REVAMP DRAFT LEAGUE and TEST play

Well there is a couple ways we could go about that problem is that there will be a pool of players for javing wb'n and basing upon signup. then maybe me and a couple other people who are willing to help me run this thing can shape up the pools to make it more organized and right. maybe upon signup for the league u will have to click a box what part u want to play in if it was jav basing or wb and thats how we could do it, you know? now for the captains no matter what i think myself and pureluck or whichever staffer who is going to be incharge of this will talk about having responsible and mature captains who know a bit about all 3 leagues. or we could also have put in place 3 captains per team.

for the draft part we could possibly have 5 rounds of each basing wb and jav. first u would draft jav as the jav captain then second as the 5 wb etc.. or even we could have a draft of 10 players then the rest of the people will be free agents and we can have biddings on the players etc.. so that all 4 teams might have a chance at that certain 3 league player, there is alot of ideas floating around in my head i just want to get a following so that pure luck realizes this is something that is real and something worth while doing so we can play it

my final comment about draft league (whether it's this one or ones been done before): people won't commit when it has nothing to do with the true squad they are on. Draft league will be very different from TWL. When it's TWL, players will try their hardest to be online during their squad's game time, but not during Draft League. People just don't care. "Oh, gonna miss DL, meh."

Until you find a way to make players to commit to their DL team, DL will fail.

Just to multiple draft tournys instead of a whole big draft league. Make it extremely simple and fairly quick. Something like 4 teams and each team playing each other team once with record determining winner, and in the case of same rec, then point/kill/time difference.

Anything big and elaborate will not work imho.

No, it won't work for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with me, the primary one among them being that while many might care about your idea in theory, no one will like it in practice. People gifted with far more intelligence than you have tried this and failed miserably at it, and your posts in this thread don't really convince me that you've hit upon an insight Path of Daggers didn't 4 years ago.

vykromond this will work, its all about the captains and how they act towards it... its just like squads right now for TWD. if you have a captain who is active and makes it fun then the squad lasts and people will want to join it, if u have an inactive captain or a dick of a captain then people wont play for him and the squad will die its not very difficult to play a couple games in a month or two, look at TWL/TWD... how many weeks do u play in that its months and there is no hype around it at all its turned into a washed up league where not many people care about it.

another thing all you people need to realize is that if you play ?go base ?go javduel ?go wbduel and you dont think this will work then you are a bunch of morons. people play in a draft style every day, especially in base its the most common arena to find people in. do you always play with your friends? no so think to yourseslf if you can do ?go base with kids you dont like then u can play a draft tournament or league with kids you dont like. you will still have TWD to be involved with to take your mind off the immature people you play for if thats the case

very good idea but i already used it earlier i said that if people are being like who you are saying merce wanting to play for a2m then ill be monitering that and ill get rid of them from the league... it isnt really that hard it just takes some time and effort in controlling things. and there really shouldnt be a proble with a small run of this because im sure there will be more then 60 people wanting to play so if there is 1 badass player who things hes worth godlike money and will only play with his friends then ill remove or the captain will remove and let one of the free agents play

the problem with that is i could be dropping my first draft pick for someone who nobody even bothered to draft. Losing an elite player for a so so player still destroys my team.

When there's a league, there will be a winner. Captains will always pick someone who will help them win. Thus comes the 'elite' players. However, these 'elite' players are often those that won't show up in matches. But they will participate in the draft, so automatically, captains will choose these elite players over 'regular' ones. Then in turn, just ruin the league. If you choose captains who are willing to ignore these elite players and pick the regular ones (most likely, these caps will not be well known, or at least not 'vets'), a lot of the good players will not participate due to the 'newbieness' on the captains. Because players play to win, they wouldnt want to play on a team captained by someone who's not very well known. But if you pick 'vet' caps, they will pick the elite players. It's a lose lose situation. Team games is about commitment, and trust me, people won't commit to DL, shown from previous 2 (or was it 3) DL already.

that's cause it's only 1 game. and your team changes every game. and the game starts right after you pick. It doesnt drag on for weeks or even months. Make an 8-player team out of ?go base and tell them a game will be played next week, see how many out of those 8 will show up for the match.

Well another idea instead of a tight scheduled league, is to have it something like TWEL is setup in the leagues. Basically there is no set time for X squad to play X squad, but if both teams happen to be on then they can play each other, perhaps we could have a few mods manually host the games in private dueling arenas like .?go #twld, and post the game results, and email the league heads. Of course in the interests of making the games more important they would have be zoned for. So for instance, four weeks, week 4 being finals. Tournament of 16, into 8, into 4, into 2. Players from each draft league squad would have 7 days to contact a mod and play their match, or else both squads would be disqualified. That stops the tension of "having to play games" and sorta brings back the vintage fun private arena squad dueling that we used to do before TWD, manually hosted private squad draft league dueling, nostalgic and fun.

great idea kthx i never thought of that, but the thing with having 16 teams is that the rosters will be alot less and will be a little harder to get all 3 leagues played. but i see where you are coming from and we could do that. we could make another ?go javtourny or ?go tournament style for squads to play which is another whole complete idea in itself, it probably wouldnt be to hard to program into the ?go tourny bot either

Newbies also know who is elite. It could even be worse. Imagine a newbie that has blood and vihta as heroes. Imagine they're online when DL is picking, those newbies will automatically pick them.
We dont need elite ppl as caps but veterans. Not skillwise but ppl that know what they're doing. To win DL you need a mix of elite player with regular and active players. I was captain of a DL team earlier and yes, its not easy at all to make it happen.

one problem with the league was that lots of people didnt even sign up for the league, me included, so lots of people that were good couldnt be drafted
