Perhaps forty dollars is a little excessive, but if you get a group of people (perhaps even your squad) to chip in a little each, then the cost will be dramatically less.

You should just make it 1 dollar per event. It would be more affordable and a lot more people would shell out the buck to have there favorite event hosted. Thus lowering the amount of money would get more people to do it and if lucky turn a larger profit.
