I had ploss last week. Cleaned up the computer of all temp files, cookies, spyware, all the other blah, and then defragmented the drive. I use System Suite 6 Professional btw. No ploss at all now.

I used to have a similar problem caused by wireless signal. If my signal was low or very low my ploss would be crazy. So if you are on wireless...trying getting a better connection?

I had a bad experience with random ploss when I started to check into it the first thing I found is that it can be caused by your connection.I found an ant colony building a nest in my box outside my house. spray the bastards to death and poof ploss fixed. first thing to check should be your connection make sure all wires are tight no 20 foot cords for a 3 foot connection make sure your not sharing a connection make sure your router or network cables are in good condition. then start to look into your active programs as they can sometimes affect sending packets. good luck

All the solutions are pretty nice, but I don´t think that all of a sudden we all got a problem with our cables or anything like that.
It might help in certain situations, but by the looks of it this has nothing to do with our own computers/cables.

                Thanks for the info though.

It's usually a router and ISP problem combined.

Watch out for Shared Internet connection to as that fluffs up packetloss to!

550ms and 'Packetloss to high to enter the game' is what it's all about!

Contact ISP and re-install router and kick people off torrents in the other room.

                            My story of success:fear:

Sometimes u can't find the cause of packetloss with the simple steps like checking your pc for spyware or checking ur cables. Some ISPs might use priorities on packets and prioritize TCP packets over UDP ones. Some ISPs might overuse UDPs by providing services such as internet TV.

I had a serious ploss problems for many months, I spent days tryoung out those simple solutions, changing cables, reconfiguring a router(no softare or hardware firewalls, coz firewalls r for noobs like cripple), cleaning up operating system but S2C ploss stayed at 50%+.

Finally i found the solution: There was a range of local UDP ports that wouldnt cause any ploss at all. Continuum.exe uses the first available UDP port in your computer to listen for incoming packets. So now before i start up Continuum i have to use up all the 'bad' local UDP ports by creating lots of UDP sockets till i get in a 'good' range.

2300-2310 r the only UDP ports i can use to play the game. Btw windows XP cleans up port counter somewhere at 5000 so u get back to 1025.

Some lines in java and no more packetloss!

Share your brilliant code with us Evul! Does it open the ports for possible attacks?
Any security risks? I'd think twice before opening that many ports with no firewall.
