Actually, no, they haven't. They ran the same year until the IOC decided to alternate in 1986. Even then, the 1988 games in Calgary, Canada and 1992 in Albertville, France were held in the same years as Seoul, Korea and Barcelona, Spain. The first winter Olympiad to fall "in-between" the summer games were the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. Only four winter games out of the 20 held were on the alternating schedule.Comment
