  • Public Update!

    Hello everyone,

    There have been a few changes since the last update I gave... mostly to do with the RoboBots (RoboBoy and Girl).

    1) A new flag timer created by Ice-Demon has been added - this shows at the top right of your screen with your frequency and bounty etc.

    2) If you message RoboBoy or Girl with !help, it will show up with several additional commands available to players, such as !clearmines (can be used once per round) and !ship #.

    3) If you enter a Pure Public arena you will be put on auto-!warp. You will need to disable it via the RoboBots if you don't want to !warp

    Says thanks to dugwyler when you see him for all his hard work with the bots.

    Things for the future....

    1) A decent MVP system for Pure Publics
    2) Adding more lvz to make Publics look more interesting. Note: This does not include any physical changes to the base. More so just wreckage or something like that in the asteroids belt.
    3) And a couple of other things I can't tell you just yet!

    the new pub timing clock is ugly...

    what was wrong with the old one?

                  It'd be great to have roboboy print out a table that shows round-specific kills, deaths, tks for each player after the round ends, like in some non-pub arenas (e.g. ?go base IIRC).

                  This would work for non-pure pub arenas as well; You could periodically print the table, say once every 5 minutes. I'm sure some people would love to try getting most kills in every 5-minute period. Or highest w/l ratio or whatever. You could list other statistics as well. Collected greens, warps, levterr kills etc. Stats are fun.

                  And teams should be randomized after one team gets 3 wins. One time all players were specced after victory in pub 0, but I think that was done manually by some mod. Frequent randomizing would of course keep things balanced.

                  Anyway, thanks for what has been done so far, and all progress is welcome. Just listing what I'd love to see next.

                        you might want to consider a jav-limit for the pure pubs, around 4 a freq? get a bot to register the amount of teamkills a jav makes and then shipchange them automaticly to warbird after a certain amount of tks.. somewhere between 5-10?

                        although i must admit lately i haven't had over 10 javs on a freq too often, but it's still often so that 90% of the freq is killing eachother in a jav..

                        you could even do the same for levis, have a limit of 1 to 2 levis a freq, and allow them very few teamkills before they get shipchanged, that will make it very challenging to play a levi but would bring all the 8 ships back in pub.

                        anyway, i think pub looks quite fine these days, it's often more enjoyable than ?go base.

                          I wonder why there is this option "!ship #" .

                          There's many things I could add in this post, I've been clear about what I think about pub's in the past..getting bored of pointing out.

                            !ship # allows a player to switch ships without losing MVP status. This is supposed to encourage players to become a shark or a terr when one is needed.

                            I also like how roboboy asks for players to switch teams and offers 25 bty as an incentive. Sometimes I'll spec and reenter and it will PM me saying that I've been switched to even teams and given bounty. I think that's a cool option.
