      hmm... in the last test I saw that you decreased how long it effected you. I think at the amount of time it gives is not enough to do anything anymore and as I said above its wasn't overpowered to me just I could tell that at 15 min it would get annoying quick.

        Statistically that's extremely unlikely. As the super timer (at present) appears underneath the progress bar I'm guessing some of the times you weren't able to see it show up. Try it again today -- I'm upping the percentage chance added per level, and adding in a PM so that you know when you get it. Unfortunately due to the hideous way SS does the super timer, it's always a random amount of time, from 0 seconds (!) to 15. Idiotic. But, that's what we have to live with -- on average it will last 7.5 seconds.

        From a purely stochastic perspective you should have received it 12 times over 40 minutes. If I double the percentage yield, for 3 levels it should be 24 times, or roughly once every 2 minutes. The only tricky part is not being able to know exactly when it will fire ... that particular idiosyncrasy alone should be enough to justify a percentage chance increase, especially when comparing the ability to energy tank. (I would like it to make sense for a player to choose one or the other, and not be forced to choose a single one just because it's clearly better.)

        2kill/terr EMP: believe it or not, your opinion isn't the only one I take into consideration! There were 2 other people who had an opinion about it, and their point of view was quite a bit different than yours. Cheese! wanted the energy deplete to be removed entirely (which couldn't happen -- that's the whole point of EMP), and Acid suggested the engine shutdown last longer. The engine shutdown is definitely not the point of the ability in the slightest (just an afterthought), so I reduced it to 1 second. Originally this ability wasn't going to have the engine shutdown at all! I can put the time up to 20 minutes, but increase the engine shutdown time again slightly, if people are in agreement that this would be a good idea, to make the ability a bit less common, but more powerful.

        • IMPORTANT NOTE TO BETA TESTERS

          From today's test onward, any mention of any aspect of the game as "useless," "worthless" or something to a similar effect will result in an immediate and permanent removal from the beta test. There will be no warning. (This of course will not carry over to the public release.)



          Why? Because beta testers that describe something as useless are completely useless as beta testers. I appreciate feedback. That's the whole point of this process. But to say that some ability or other has no worth whatsoever is also of absolutely no use. It doesn't help me in the slightest. And it shows the tester hasn't thought out what they're saying and probably isn't willing to -- all the more reinforcing the very low worth of their haphazardly-formed opinion.

          On the other hand, saying something seems underpowered for reason X or Y is extremely useful. I'd really like to hear more people saying what they avoid buying. Please list anything you think is too costly, requires too high a rank, or just doesn't give or do quite what it should.

          Sorry to be so harsh on this. But saying essentially "this is gay" is infantile and frankly pretty fucking insulting. I'm just sick of it after spending far too much time on this game, and I'm no longer going to put up with mewling little tykes that have absolutely nothing to contribute to this game getting out the door, because, thankfully, I don't have to.

          I won't take ignorance of this notice as an excuse. You're just not welcome in the beta anymore if you can't put on the big girl/big boy pants while you play.


          All that said, thanks to everyone who's put real thought into improving the game. This would be nowhere close to what it is now without your constant help, and it's very much appreciated.

              but as you don't want to touch that its not going to happen
              [Edit: and Cheese! is talking from a levis point of view so they have a slow recharge so it would be more annoying to him then to other people most likely]

              I didn't know that it wasn't going to be part of the original to me it seemed to follow so i never thought about taking it away so when it happened in the test (and no one had said anything on the forums) I was surprised and was just trying to find out why. thats all

              again I am really sorry if I sounded like I didn't accept other peoples opinions.

                First of all, People's Republic of Misanthropy is an awesome name! B)

                Second, I have to agree on some form of army randomization/balancing. Perhaps forcing the top ranks of each class to play on opposite sides (ie: 1st and 4th vs 2nd and 3rd, etc). I know players should switch ships when their army is in need, but the truth is, most wont. I am a fine example: I just want to play my shark. It is the only ship I have had time to rank up much in, and when I play terr I am slow as molasses - plus, I just suck at terr. As a rank 12 terr, or whatever I am, I don't offer much help to an army that can't totally compensate for my lack of awesomeness.

                I am certain this extends to other players as well. Many people seem to have picked a ship, and stuck to it. Maybe once the real release begins, and rank is gained much more slowly, it will be easier to switch to lower ranked ships.

                  • As for the super, nice increase and warning.
                    I split between energy tank and super today. 2/4 energy tank (50%) and 3/4 super (30%).

                    Hmmm, is better in the sense i actually know when i get super (with the warning), but is bad because is randomized and half the time i get super is when i'm with 1 or less enemies around.

                    I think that energy tank is more useful still? Because is sorta like super, but for a very short duration - but, you can choose to use it whenever you want with a simple macro.


                    Energy tank - useful in 1v1 battles, tank a L2 bullet, "macro !!", and fire back with multi or single. - aka vulching

                    Super - useful in crowded fr fights

                    • What both me and raible want, is a way to check if emp is charged, maybe also with a timer left or time since last emp. Maybe !empstatus

                      Having been receiving some terr emps myself now, I think it's weak. The shutdown definitely needs at least one or two seconds more, and if you ask me the timer could go up as much as to 30 minutes. It will probably only be used to secure round wins and break critical holds anyway. Really questioning if it's worth the 40 UP as it is.

                      Having played some low rank ships recently too I think they rank a little too fast with quite easy high level kills. I support a tighter high rank cap.

                      • looking forward to test firebloom. First impression: i dont like its fire delay. i cant launch firebloom and shoot afterwards and since firebloom doesnt seem to get many kills that is a backdraw. duno if this is limited to settings but if it isnt it should be changed.

                        regarding the lack of kills i get with it, noone is crazy anough to rush into this burst clowd but i have to test it more often in more crowded flagrooms, it could be quite a blast when repped. as for being a strategical stopper, it serves the purpose and if it wouldnt stop me from shooting id be happy with it.

                        i also found a typo. it says 80 UP for lvl2 lanc bomb, please remove the zero behind the 8. :fear: this must be a pub levi bomb cant wait to see it in action.

                        also i think the easy high level kills for low level ships are due to the cost of energy upgrades and the low max energy. if i would have maxed out energy, shot one bullet and than a lvl1 ship shoots me i die. since lanc is slow as hell this happens more often than i would like it to.

                        Jesh spiders. Just Jesh. how will this be once you get lvl2? it isnt gona be funny i tell u. Spider lvl2 cost must be very high! lvl2 instant kill super multifire wtf.

                        warping should kill streaks. i guess thats hard to implement but if u manage to do it you could increase streak RP again.

                        regarding 24/7 dist, i am against it. I think that would mean there to be fewer people on than if it were hosted at special hours of the day.

                          Yeh I thought your burst cloud was interesting, but as you mentioned, no one would be dumb enough to suicide. BUT, on the other hand, it means you can create a 'wall' between your army and the enemies! Which means, your army can go through your firebloom and advance on their territory (especially in fr if you burst it on top of flag or something of that nature).

                          You do realize that the L2 has been upgraded from rank 40 to rank 47? 7 levels... let's do some math, averaging 55k per level... that's almost 400k of RPs i need more than before. How many total RP do you have now, 500, 600k? Then ask if is reasonable or not. If you look at current spiders, in the range of 25-35, you would notice their recs are almost always negative, which says something about a fighter ship dont you think?

                          Dont think it will be on 24/7, definitely more than now. But we will figure out a good time so people can benefit from playing all around the world without someone going sleepless trying to play 24/7 and get ranks above everyone else!
                          Perhaps something like hosting while for Euros in their evening-ish when North Americans are at school. Then host again when it is N. America's evening. And more on weekends.
                          However, this is not our priority, it can be figured out with Dug before release.

                          • Javelin L2 bombs way too strong for its level. It does teamfers.
                            Especially with MJ and Brabbit both on the same team.

                            Reminds me of L2s for spiders at level 40...
                            Either lower the radius / damage, or up the level requirements.

                            I think lowering radius/damage would be better. but yeh, too strong for rank 40.

                                now that many ppl have lv2 bombs, with the HUGE radius that lv2 has,
                                with levis, and the 5 javs on one team, the bomb radius has to be decreased.
                                especially with the slow recharge that dist has. you detach from a terr only to die to some bomb halfway across the fr.

                                unfortunately, since nerfing lv2 also nerfs lv3, fire/purchase cost needs to be decreased to compensate the levi.

                                about the emp:
                                deplete seems a little unfair.
                                to me, the emp should just be for the shutdown...

                                why purple and green?
                                blue and green or blue and red is way better imo
