Think of "shooting" the messenger as blaming him for doing nothing.
The opposite would be praising the messenger...for doing nothing.

2 things.... don't thank flabby, as he didn't do anything..... he said 'there is a problem', great... we've known that for quite some time.... it's like shooting the messanger, but opposite. If i told you that you won the lottery for 13 million dollars would you give me a million for telling you? No.
I started a traceroute from the RoboKing bot server to TW about 5 minutes ago. It's still running. Oh, wait, it just finished now; after 30 attempts it died out and never completed its voyage. Meanwhile every one of our bots that is running active on RK is experiencing something like 4-5% packetloss. Consider what it's like for a player to have 5% ploss... it's not quite as bad for bots, except that they need to be able to reliably receive information. 1 of every 20 packets is lost (hundreds are being sent out all the time), and each missing packet has to be retransmitted, resulting in an exciting amount of wasted bandwidth, but also on occasion extremely slow response times for anything the bot has to send to a player. Fortunately most bots focus on receiving and analyzing data, and don't send out too many packets to TW. But for those that do, this problem is damn annoying. Distension and PurePubBot are on the list, as well as many eventbots.
Oh, and I thought I could be quite clever and run Distension on dev. Dev also runs through hopone. Cool. 50% packetloss on 2 hops. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool.
Our network is secure (unlike many others) and it is not accessible
from the public Internet. You can ping or otherwise access any of our
network devices.
If you are getting any packet loss to the end host, the problem is at
the end server - you may want to reduce it's load or correct its
configuration."
