Especially in wb duels it would make things weird, even if both players had a large resolution. I'd expect 1on1 duels to take even longer than they do now (which is usually at least long enough, as is)
Current res is great! Play windowed if you have a larger monitor

PriitK himself was of the opinion that TW should not be played with resolutions over 1280x1024, and I think that's an opinion that ought to weigh some

I think we should have a week or weekend without the cap just for fun!

Ummmm, I know
Right. Ummm, thanks for your honesty. I can see were fairness is a good concept, like on a bus for example. But in TW it was fun trying to adjust to a huge res playing wb in pub back then. It was wild fun trying to nail people from really, really far away. Plus is was easier to dodge those random strays b.c you could see them comming from a mile away.Originally posted by Singularity View PostApparently it has not occurred to you that there is a reason not to have that high resolution available besides being just unfair to the players not having access to it, namely the huge stray-fest warbird becomes. I think this is the point blood was trying to make as I believe there was no resolution cap years ago (I haven't been playing that long myself). It's cool to see the base in its entirety maybe, but the radar should not be redundant.
See I learned things should be fair the hard way. I like to touch people on the bus when they're not paying attention. That's not fair, I was told, by the judge. So, I guess, most things in life are better when they are fair. Community service and big fine this Mr. Judge. So after my lessoned learned, tw should be fair too. A large res is like reaching out and touching someone on the bus when they can't see you doing it.
PS. Keep your hands to yourself. <_<

It was looked at again, and by a landslide, the decision was to keep it as it was. Believe me, I had just gotten a new 22" widescreen, I wanted the cap to change. I never wanted to remove the cap if that meant that less than 50% of the population would benefit from it. The majority were those who wouldn't go higher than the current cap.
Another decent argument, is that this game itself has appeal in that you don't need a supercomputer to play. So even with a shitty computer, you won't be limited at all due to bad hardware and/or monitor.

Cap was put in place several years ago
The cap was put in place several years ago, like back in 2000, right? I think people have better monitor and video resolutions now since then. This should be looked at again.
For the smaller res people they should switch ships to shark or weasle. Adapt or die, don't whine about it.:fear:

Yeah, but if you look at the posts you'll see that most of the players has smaller screens than 20", and that there aren't many that has widescreen.

That poll hardly shows anything regarding resolution, Noah.
All those votes for LCD and CRT could've been screens that are running resolutions above 1280x1024.
