Trench Wars Draft Tournament (TWDT)

Well I can't yet post in the TWDT forum because it's put in the inactive group. But who's looking to be interested in TWDT coming back?

Right now I'm looking for suggestions to improve on the way it was run last year. If any at all are needed. Things like: Rule changes, Season Length (not to make it too long), etc...

Any suggestions can be posted in this thread or you can find me ingame and give me them.

This thread will be moved down to the TWDT forum once it's activated again. So don't be alarmed when you can't find it.

Anyways thanks for your suggestions in advance. I'll be looking forward to trying to get this started.

I think we should bring it back - not only does it create a sense of community in trenchwars, it also inspires a competitive nature within players, not just the squads. The general population (along with staff) has changed and I think its time we bring back some older league events to restore TW to its previous glory .. or something like that

I have run this sort of league in another zone before -- if you need any help, feel free to contact me PO and company. That being said, a draft tournament is either a complete success or a complete failure; make sure it isn't the latter or I doubt anyone will ever have open-mindedness to this idea again.

ph, it's really starting to get redundant... we know you have a vendetta against tw staff, i think you've made your point. now constantly posting these pseudo-comedic posts, full of sarcasm and dry wit is really starting to get old. if you're so against tw staff, why did you run away from the problem by quitting staff (instead of staying and being part of the solution), and why are you the proverbial forum bitch for tw staff? if tw staff is so horrible/corrupt, how about you stop working for them?

edit2: i'm not saying tw staff is as good as it could be or should be, but tw DOES have the best staff in subspace, spoken from someone who has played and continues to play the other big zones in ss. the game is dying, and there's nothing that a bunch of unpaid PLAYERS can do about it besides delay it as long as possible. it's not their fault it's dying.

edit3: ph, if you were to completely strip tw staff to nothing and rebuild it based on who you think would be good for every job/position, and instituted your own policies and rules, would tw magically have 500-600 players average again? 750 on the weekends? no, it's not going to happen. our playerbase is getting older and no matter what happens, people have lives and better things to do with their lives. just because you have nothing better to do than bitch about it on the forums all day doesn't mean that everyone else shares your concerns. personally, i'm home for spring break this week and it's the first time i've logged on ss in a very long time because i have better things to do. now if staff got a lot better and the zone improved tremendously am i going to put tw above my life just because things got better? nope. the bottom line is, PEOPLE HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO, it's not staff's fault, it's not our fault, it's just that the only significant playerbase ss has ever had is starting to get busy with life and there's no realistic way of marketing this unattractive game to people on the outside.

Voth speaks sense. And yeah, TWDT coming back would be boss sauce. Just gotta make sure it's organized properly before it's started. So many times, things are just "winged" as they go along and it creates an environment riddled with problems. TWDT is a good idea, I'm all for it

ok, so we're losing population. great. let's use that as an excuse to punch more holes in the ship and make it sink even faster! i already outlined my concerns for people who might actually have the ability to get some changes made, but i'm not dumb enough to hold my breath and expect anything other than the old "we're upper staff, we're in charge and you're not, but thanks for the input" routine. and while much of the current crop of cancer, whoops i meant staff did i say cancer, embraces that attitude, i think it's borderline pathetic. which is why you don't see me wearing their tags anymore.

oh, and don't worry about "pandora's box", i'm pretty sure my "little group" has nothing to contribute to this fight anyway. i am glad that you think we're on quicksand's level though, that's truly an honor.

ph, you know i have no upstanding vendettas against you and i can understand why you thought i might laugh it off, but i wasn't offended by the post, it was actually just a venting in response to all of your posts lately. i didn't write a "novella" in response to the one comment you made in this thread, more-so all of your less-than-humorous posts that take cheapshots at tw staff.

as you normally do, you didn't address any points i made, but thoroughly continued to make yourself look like an idiot. i've never seen so much ungratefulness; tw has been on top of ss for YEARS and it still is... we have the best staff, the most advanced bots, the most events, and whether you care to agree or not.. the best run leagues. (yes, a close second is eg) there's not much else staff can do.. do you think that if twl was restored to the prestige of seasons ago, it would make the old players return? would it make demonfaze, vihta, epinephrine, hellzno!, psymorph, 2dragons, raspi, fireballz, banzi, the whole -final- crew.. would they come back to tw and try to do it again? no... they have better things to do. if every issue was resolved in this zone, we wouldn't regain any population.

it's a pretty convenient scapegoat to blame tw staff for this... but every zone is dying the same way, and despite what you may believe, tw is no different. every zone is steadily losing population and will continue to until the game is dead, for all intents and purposes. now i would LOVE to see someone on tw staff stop this gam from dying, but they have neither the resources, power, or ability to do so, so instead of blaming them, enjoy the remaining life of this game or call it quits like the rest of us.

if you can't respond to this in any manner other than your really overdone pseudo-comedic manner, just save it. if you want to say you've already expressed your concerns and won't do it here, then PM me. (even though that's a pretty easy excuse for having nothing to say)

Also, what are the ideas being tossed around that allow for teams to maintain an active roster throughout the several weeks that draft tourny runs on, ensuring that players will give a valiant effort in showing up to their games and not requesting to be traded away?
