Damnit you beat me to it. I was HONESTLY thinking of this idea hoping that nobody else said it so I can receive full glory.

But seriously, I know I've mentioned my ideas about killing ?go javs, but it's made me think that this new alternative is really a great solution. A !notplaying command would easily mean that players are warped to the javs area. See, the arena would always be populated, it means that lots of javs can move into playing baseelim which is convenient to access.

One thing that does concern me is that jav players will bring the baseelim style (Runs, strays, etc.) into the javs arena, which is (I suppose), more skillful in execution of tactics. By saying this, equally, we could be bringing the javs style (more skill) into the baseelim arena, maybe there will be less straying and running.

My last concern is !record. I usually find it better to just conveniently see people's records on the screen for current baseelim games, and if this rule was to come in, I would find myself typing !record a hell of a lot of times just to see who's doing well, who I should stay away from etc, as I usually press F2 in game to see this kind of thing. Maybe you should reverse this rule, and apply !record in the sense that it would record all kills/deaths totally for the arena, instead of just the current scores in baseelim, and so baseelim scores are displayed instead of total records.

I think this idea should be given a try. Thanks a lot for bringing this idea to us inertube.

I haven't played in either arena in ages, but this sounds like a good idea nonetheless.

this is exactly what I said...have the ?go javs arena still alive, but in the same room as the belim map as the !notplaying room.

Keeping baseelim up as it is now would be a mistake. I would rather be able to play while waiting in the same arena, rather then leaving after I'm eliminated.

a2m's idea of the !notplaying command is great. The bot would assume your status is !playing while piloting unless otherwise told via a !notplaying command and it would leave you in the non-elimination base.

Once 8+ players status in game = !playing (assumed when you enter) then elimination starts. If it's less then 8, elimination is automatically turned off at the end of the current elimination and everyone plays in the non-elimination base.

It could be constructed where when there is 7 people, and the 8th person jumps in, the bot goes into a countdown to elimination time. There must be 8 people in with the status of !Playing for, lets say 3 minutes. This avoids people just jumping in to start elimination.

I honestly believe this is the way elimination matches take place in the future. If we got this up, and is proven to be a great system, it could very well be adapted into ?go elim also for just warbirds, allowing people to play while waiting, but that is if this is used and shows success.

i don't see how this could hurt at all, it seems like a good idea.

the only thing i'm not so excited about is the advert/spam after each match, espeically if its to 3 deaths.

also, maybe a new tileset? same or similar map, just something a little more interesting to look at.

Personally I think having the top 5 players of each month posted on a website for everyone to see would alone be enough to breathe some life into baseelim, not to mention announcing the winner of the last game in a zone message after each elim. If there's one thing people in this game love it's getting some recognition.

    Edit:

For me this change won't mean I will suddenly start to play baseelim, and I'm pretty sure this also goes for the majority of ?go javs players. Else they'd come to the baseelim arena when there is a notification in green (same as people do with elim).
After reading that I'm going from "do it" to "give it a try".
