I've gotten 3fers on a few bursts thanks to lag. 
The bombs do have longer range, a lot longer. Me and a friend experimented with this, he fired a levi bomb from the bottom of the map and it reached mid base on my screen.
Also, yesterday at the golden gun event, I noticed that as soon as someone would go out of radar range, all of his bullets would disappear instantly off my screen. o_O
