Hey if you get a GOOD idea for weekend pub just ?message me in game and I will see if it can be done. Now by see if it can be done I mean A} if its possible and B} if I am allowed to. Ginormous bounty weekend actually raised to Pub population for 2 days OMG how did that happen. I still get the occasional message asking for Wild Guns weekend. Great Balls of Fire weekend even went pretty well. These were all simple changes for 2 days more showing everyone what is possible, the zone utilizes about 1/3 of potential settings in pubs. To answer your question I guess there is no one person in charge of pubs I have never seen a change to pubs the has been 1 person just doing it. Look at it this way the reason Levs are still there is because more people want them then people who don't the same goes for the size of the cloaks. If you see a change in pubs its because people know they are stagnating and need to be changed. Hell I hope a new map is chosen (I doubt it will be) everyone knows all the shots all the bursts and all the sneaky little tricks. We need a challenge for a change rather then every time someone new plays the game they get lamed over and over and decide the game is too annoying and don't stay.

lol lets talk again about who's on the forums whining about these changes. LB players mostly, and Kont and some random guy that seems to know a bit about coding. The players not on these forums talking are the ones enjoying the current settings that i see in the arena frequently

these changes i'm talking about - "high bounty weekends" "powerball weekend" "changing the weasel settings" are all somewhat drastic changes. If they needed coding, then it somehow got done for his ideas, why not ours?


I'm not saying he personally needs to fix the voting or the bots. I realize that's not his bag. However, he could kindly point us to that person, instead of getting defensive over something he's not even responsible for.

I've been doing a "?help/?cheater GET RID OF THE FUCKING LEVIS IN PUB 0 ALREADY" every day now for at least two weeks - and the responses are 90% of the time "I agree, but I can't do anything about it - and I don't know who runs the pubs".

Pub as it is now is completely fucked up.

It seems that some people are under the impression that I am or was ever in charge of pubs well your wrong. I added some fun to the pubs for a few weekends and am running the Pub Map Contest. But I am not nor ever have been in charge of pubs. and sure there will be some maps put up for a week each after the evaluation at the end of march, the new maps have been tested and the top 5 have been chosen. To be honest I expect people to want to keep the old map hell they have refused change soo much its like an infant that won't give up the sips cup. but for a little while people will give to the game map wise and pubs may be interesting enough to play again rather then the afk arena being full.

i'm guessing you don't know who's in charge of pubs either. this is the second or third time you've posted to defend your lack of a role in the pub development, yet you haven't said who is in charge. obviously you're the only one doing any visable changes (aside from the MIA bot coders) so you should expect to receive the brunt of the feedback. you also have the power to change pub settings (ie weasel) yet you only seem to do this for your own amusement, not per the suggestions found here or anywhere else.

There is no offical Dev server ever since Hoch got rid of his host that SSCI was hosted from and TWDev was on...

So atm there is no server that you can join, unless u setup and run one from ur pc..

1) Make ?go oldtrench3 the pub map - Less people and smaller base would up the action!

2) Remove levis, weasels, lancs, javs and wbs from pubs - Lets not give any choice to the players as to what ship they can play, force them into the "Big 3"

3) Put the cap on arena limit to 25 - More pubs available (10 per team + bots and add streaks)

4) "*kill 10" anyone who spawnkills or sits in spectator mode for more than 5 minutes.

5) Zone "%playername has captured the flag" everytime the flag changes hands.

6) Remove elims/javs/wb/javduels/tourny/etc.. TRENCHWARS IS BASING! If you want to play something other than the "Big 3", go play EG!

7) Make "?go distention and DBot" run 24/7 on weekends. Close ALL other arenas.

8) Make it so typing "?go afk" automatically disconnect you for X minutes. (You were going to be afk anyways)

9) Remove all <ER>'s. Make the good ones Mods, shit can the rest!

10) Disable pub chat in public.

11) Bring back Hal Wilkerson.

12) Turn TWL into a pyramid league and only for basing.

13) Ban anyone who whines, complains, has a suggestion, is nice, speaks when not spoken to, typos, uses incorrect grammar, swears, and flys next to another person too close!

well said, the bolded ones are vital (imo), TW needs to redefine itself as a basing zone, not dueling zone!

I'd also like to submit my piss-and-moan about the current absence of purepub. Among pubbers, there seems to be a significant player population that strongly gravitates toward purepub and only grudgingly plays impure pub when pure is not available. So it's important to keep it running, or fix it when it isn't running.

It would be nice to at least get some kind of arena entry message, zoner or news.txt update if purepub is busted, why it's down, and an estimate of when it will be back online, if possible.

The pubs (bots) seem to have become more prone to breaking down in the last couple of months. Why, and what can be done to make the zone more stable? If that's beyond anyone's control, could we modify the zone settings so that when things break, the "broken" state is more fun? Since purepub has been playing second fiddle to lev pub for so long, how about purepub as the default "broken" state for awhile? Leave the timer on by default, unless a bot turns it off. In the ship settings, set the lev's InitialBombs = 0. That way, if the bot is online, it can prize levs with 3 bomb upgrade greens at each spawn. If the bot is down, levs can enjoy being a shitty blue lanc until the bot returns.

Noah, just do what I've decided to do. Stop putting in ANY effort in pub. Don't make it your goal to take and hold the flagroom. Just say fuck it and jav. If you're getting killed by levis too much because they are in the pub then it's time to be a levi, if you can't beat them join them. Oh and never worry about teamkilling, everybody else does it anyway.

If you follow that formula you can't go wrong. Pub is a lot more fun when you give up on it.
