Pub Map Contest

Well tiles are not too important, but are critical to the appeal of the base to keep players playing these 'tricked out' maps.

They will be. I have received 1 very nice tile job but they didn't change the base at all its a really good job regardless.

i think they should be judged separately on appearance (tileset) and layout.

If someone can make a really awesome layout, but didn't put that much effort into the tileset, then it could always be improved.

Likewise if someone puts in a really awesome tileset, it could possibly be integrated with the winning design.

Ok so I have begun choosing for the Panel.
What I need
1) basers
2) duelers and base birds
3) levterrs
4) roofers {javs terrs and so on}
5) people who private freq

What I don't need
1) I used to pub "back in the day"
that day has past pub has changed alot and if you wanna help you need to pub frequently.
2) People who are just gonna bash anything they see cause they cant accept that this is a contest not necessarily the end of the current map.

I already have a few maps from established map makers and a few new ones and some are very creative. The deadlind for entering maps is March 31st so you have plenty of time to get some quality maps entered.

how is it dumb if the new map is popular and fresh from the same old map we've been used to

there's nothing wrong with trying out new ways to incite new players or gain the interest of vets to come back to pub

sticking to the same ideas without consideration for change or attempting to improve or put a new twist on things will only lead to stagnation

which is not what TW needs

A new pub map? Why ruin what's already working? What you should do is just keep the same basic layout and improve it aesthetically (ie. less blocky -- more sexy).

But if anyone in upper staff is dumb enough to approve a completely new map for permanent use in tw pub arenas, i suppose it will only persuade more players to try other zones, so I'm not against that either.

A panel will be selected this weekend. I currently have about 5 people who submitted maps some multiple maps.

When will the judging take place? Can we nominate maps that are already online (e.g., blehbase)?

Make as many as you want they will be judged just as all the others. But people who enter are only eligible for one slot in the five finalists slots.
