Pub Map Contest

And how many maps are we allowed to create? I have quite a few ideas, only got around to change few things on the last pub map

Looks good. I'd vote for it. However, I think the alternate entrances are now so convoluted as to be useless. But they were the big controversy from last time, so I guess we should try a slight change. I still dislike how the safe zones have a free, safe, wide open shot at the map, at no risk to the shooter. I already hate levs with the passion of a thousand burning suns, and this map will make spawn more of a nightmare when levs are involved.

But change is good. I'd look forward to exploring new shots on this map.

Ok.. Since I'm sick of people ripping others tilesets and calling them their own I will give permission to anyone here to use the ?go #testmap3's tileset. It should be good enough for anybase you like and it's nothing radical.

There are already several excellent alternate maps we could choose from, but I certainly welcome the opportunity for more, as long as they ultimately get used in some fashion.Changing the pub map will be controversial. It would be nice to at least rotate a different map in on a temporary basis, while leaving the old dead horse as the standard.

TUO, please modify your awesome map from last year (#testmap 3) that almost became the new hotness, and/or make a new one. :greedy:

pubs have to remain the same core base design, however he can do like ?go testpub #

can we get a test pub or something similar up one or two days a week

for instance have pub 0 and test pub, even if it's only for a night or whatever

just to see some of the public opinion on the map/setting ideas

I've got a base map already submitted called The Chaotic Future of Trench Wars where I just took the current map, updated the tileset with 2dragon's futuristic tileset, created some dischord and made it look like alot of shit went down between the last map and this map (which is true). The map's name was ?go cftwbase. It was uploaded to Dev Zone as one of my first maps before I joined the development. If it wasn't saved, I'll just go ahead and send another copy of it's awesomeness because I believe a pub map needs more than just functionality but should also be a looker, too.

A long time ago (some of you may remember) there was a contest to make a new pub map. There were lots of people who sent in some good maps but the old pub prevailed. none the less it was alot of fun for everyone and its time for this to happen again.

Rules:

1} all submitted maps will be judged by a panel {to be picked}

2} 5 finalists will be chosen each finalist will have their map as pub for one week

3} after all 5 maps have been played a public poll will decide the results

Maps will be judged with a bot run poll on a 1 - 10 rating system 1 being - OMG how did this get in here and 10 being - HOLY PIZZA ON A STICK this is awesome!!

Map rules:
1} No special tiles aka warp tiles static bricks and so on

2} No wormholes

3} Get permission or give credit for tilesets

4} one flag only

5} no racism {YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED}

6} earwarp coords remain the same {so the bots can run without change}

Even if the pub map prevails again (it shouldn't as old as it is) it will be an exciting time in the pubs and (I bet) will generate more public play.
