Worst graphics I've seen in ANY game in the last 15 years.

I think staff doesn't want this game to flourish because that would put more pressure on their jobs. :P

Also what's the point of having 'weekend-maps/graphics', it's fucking ridiculous. Seriously, what is the whole 'big idea' behind it? Or is it just so some people who like to create new graphic-designs can have their fun each week?

the map is called Subroids, and Epine made it, it is a classic event and you queers should just stop cunt bleeding for five seconds and realize its only for two days or so.

what were the other finalist maps? Sorry if I'm out of the loop but is there somewhere on the TW site where we can look at contestant submissions? If not, could a section go up for that, especially if we have more contests like this?

edit- mad props to everyone who made a map (thx Epi), regardless of what they look like, everyone spent some of their free time on them in interest of helping the zone

Well, it's rather gimmicky, better suited to an event (wasn't it 2Dbase?) than an ongoing pub map. And it's almost identical to the default map, just with a different tileset and graphics. Bring on the new base maps!

I think it's harder to play on this map ("is that a green or a mine?"), but I'm all for mixing things up now and then--ideally, with the aim of making the game better...

I always loved subroids. I hadn't seen the map before you newbs were whining about it. I went in and checked it out and actually played pub for once in my life.

i would also like to say that when i send a ?help asking for an event out of a list of 9 or 10 i send in to be hosted that its awesome when the next event hosting about 15 minutes later is something i hate.

I played the new map this morning.
It was definately "different".
I'm glad it's temporary but I appreciate the effort made to try and spice things up a bit.

just played if for a few mins, and it is fun

it's not something that could ever become the pub map, so i don't know why it is in the contest, but it is fun to play for a little while.

the problem i have is that it seems to be a direct step backwards (retro if you will) where as we should looking forward.

I say surprisingly, because it reads like no one else does. I'd like to note that I rarely type or read anything about anything, so you may trash me in these forums all you want because I probably won't read any of it. In TW, it seems every debate dissolves into trashtalk.

I'm really only doing this because I feel pretty strongly about how much I like this new pubmap.

The pubmap this week is, as Heroin Bob so cleverly observed, themed around Asteroids. While the gameplay may not be as great as the usual pub, it maintains a classic sense of SS, similar to the classic sense of Super Mario on the SNES (a personal favorite). Maybe if people joined this very weekend, they would not stay to play, but for all the people who have played the pub before, they know the theme, and can probably understand it. Yes, Continuum has never been the 8-bit game Asteroids, but SS undoubtedly has its roots in Asteroids soil. You can't deny that Continuum and Asteroids are very similar; hell, I bet half of you complaining describe SS as an evolution of Asteroids to your friends. I believe the map is creative (well done Arilou or whatever), and I personally enjoy playing this map (Thank you Wark). If your mind is too stuck on the usual that you can't try something new, maybe you play this game way too much.

I especially like how the Javelin is the true Asteroids ship shape.
