  • New Elim Stats... Good or bad?

    THere are alot of issues I think need to be recognized with the new elim stats recorder. FIrst of all I like the new stats that you put in like the Kill Streak, Players Eliminated, Best Kill streak ect all that is cool. What I dont really like is the fact that a 2:1 ratio is no longer good enough to boost your rating up at all in fact it actually goes down a few points. I like the old rating system better. You have to get something along the lines of a 3:1 ratio in elim to improve your rating now and it just seems like it encourages people to make up fake names and play elim only until they get enough kills to be ranked then make a new name and all of a sudden bam they are in top 10 like with 4 different names. This needs to be changed, I mean look at the top 5 players in elim...really? Who the fuck are these aliased guys?

    What we need is the 36 hour rule back in place and set up the old elim rating style with all these new functions you put into the bot. But thats my opinion, been playing elim for like 10 years now though so I figured I would put in my 2 cents.

    Can we use the rating system that we currently use to calculating ratings in TWL?

    See R column. It even accounts for ratios and stuff...or so it seems

      I say we just increase the elim usage to play up to around 250-500 hours or so, if you double or triple client it isn't like it takes really long to get a name up that high but it would definitely keep out a bunch of aliased players, either that or make it like TWEL where you can only have one elim name, or maybe make it a little more lenient and put it at 2-3 names. Either way most people that play elim probably already have 250-500 hours anyways so it would just be a deterrent from making a new name to recwhore in elim with.

        Top 4 are all me, #5 is racka. 36 hour rule won't stop me, I have over 10 names with that much usage. Of course those names wouldn't be top 4 if the rating system worked correctly.

        It's supposed to be the old rating system, it's just not working correctly. I'm no coder so I don't know what's wrong with it but here is the code: http://www.twcore.org/browser/trunk/...elim/elim.java

            ave = ave - ((ave - (((ave * getTotalWins()) + enemyRating)/(getTotalWins() + 1)))/2)

            This is one solution I came up with. This would definitely slow down the declines of players ave's. We wont see as many aves in the 100s or even below that. It can even be divided by 4 if it is still a problem.

            The problem is all in the calculation of the AVE. I don't know how it was done in the past but the way it is now is no way close to the way it used to be done. If only we had access to robo .

              Didn't someone say that the new elim rating is calculated using hit % aka shots hit / shots taken, and other new variables. An average player's hit% is pretty low, so wouldn't the rating go low too?

              Everyone's rating is different now, because it's calculated differently. Everyone's comparing the old calculation to the new one. perhaps, in this new system, a 100 is a great rating.

              Maybe the rating shouldn't start so high to begin with.

                I had 631 rating, needing 28 kills/deaths to get the name ranked...
                I played an belim and did 20-3... My rating dropped by 6 points... that's stupid... after that elim I needed 16 or 17 kills/deaths still which is amazing... and no those 20 kills contained no spawn kills as it was a race to 20 I won...

                So clearly there is something wrong in that rating system shit... cause there is no way the average rating of person you kill can be below 100... in other words that's rigged... (I have high average rating because I killed a guy like 7 or 8 times on my first game who had 5500 rating or so...) so I had a rating of around 900 when I had 100 kills/deaths with just over even ratio...

                Love my dots?... yeah they cool...

                  This is what im talking about though right here. Burnt has 4 names in top 4 positions in elim..... is that anyway to see who the best in elim is? All burnt is really doing is playing games on those names until he gets ranked and then stops knowing that people who actually play elim on ONE name will eventually loose their high rating and be somewhere around 200.

                  The other day I went 23-10 in elim wich with the old rating sytem would have shot me up a bunch of point on my rating instead it took me down about 10 pts..... This is no fun. When I first got this name ranked I was #4 on the ranked list now im like #50 because it is impossible to NOT loose points on your rating unless you have a godly elim round where you go 20-0 and never miss a shot.

                    I went 12-0 and lost rating once lol.

                    It is all in the AVE rating of the people you kill. It moved down too fast which causes your rating to go down. Once it is down you need astronomical recs to make it go up.

                    The equation i made will half the points lost or points gained in your AVE. This will slow down the decline of the AVE and make it so your rating can get higher easier.

                    Riistar if you see my posts please talk to me in game. This rating problem really seems to be bugging everyone and i dont see why we cant use this as a quick fix.

                      Rating should be calculated the following way:

                      Rating = (Kills * Ave) / Deaths

                      This way New Rating = ((OldKills*OldAve)+(roundKills*RoundAve))/Totall deaths

                      I have no idea how it's calculated currently...

                      From this New Rating you can derive your new Ave... it's the easiest way...

                      New Ave = New Rating * Deaths / Kills

                      Cause there is something wrong with Ave, that's for sure... and I am pretty sure this is a formula that is correct and that would work.

                      Simple but effective, I think this is what the old rating system was like...

                      You could also calc the New Ave first, but I think it's harder but I dont have any time left to elaborate since I gotta fetch a train.... they keep running from me.

                        Ya pj i looked at the code and the way rating is calculated is the way you said.

                        (kill/Deaths)*AVE

                        So the rating calculations are fine. In the code the new AVE after you kill someone is calculated by
                        AVE = ((CurrentAVE * kills)/(kills + 1))

                        It seems like a fine equation but in reality the AVE is moving too quickly.

                          Ave should be the following after you kill someone...

                          AVE = ((CurrentAVE * kills + rating of person you killed)/(kills + 1))

                            why not have a minimum number of games you have to play before you can get ranked (say like 50 elims)

                              Pj That is the current equation according to the code. I looked at it already and thats exactly how it is in the code.

                              I crunched some numbers and indeed it is working according to all the equations in the code. The equation i created halves the change in AVE after u kill someone. This will prevent the AVE from going down too far.
