  • Implement energy view from spec

I never understood why this zone needs to hide energy + items view for spectators. There is no way you may abuse that information for the sake of twd/twl. The only useful thing would be to spec terrier in twbd and call its items and when it drops ports, but for twjd/twdd there is no reason to spec call opponents.

What advantage energy view gives is the fact that newer players may get a chance to observe how good players manage their energy and when they choose to show, how much energy do they burn on thrust, etc. Furthermore, it might easily track possible CE users, especially with laggy thrustshots. For the moment, I see no flaws of that change.

    discuss.

          It'll keep energy hackers honest.

Also impliment a !lag <player> feature. If the checked player has any limits over at that given time. They'll be specced with a +1 death as well as *killed out of the server to force a re-login.

To prevent spamming the command and abusing the function, only assist/caps can use the command and they can only do it once a minute.

It would cause some problems in TWD. Let's say it's 1v1 in the end of a TWDD match and players are rushing or chasing each other. The spectating players would be able to tell their players via teamspeak or team chat what the opposing player's energy is.

It's only unfair if one side can see the energy and the other can't. In this case, both sides can see. But, honestly, any EXPERIENCED Warbird doesn't need a friend from spec to yell "OMG HES IN THE RED! OMG HE'S GOT 1000 NRG!" "OMG HE'S NOW FULL!".

We see you fire, we know how much time we have to go to work. Only newbs will have to this said from spec and even then, a player at that skill level won't know what to do with that information.

The only time I see this as a hinderance is in TWBD where you can know when the enemy terrier has equipment and where/when he lays his ports.

Again.... an experienced player will know this on the field instinctively, but a newer team will be able to pick up on this info better.

i always liked this feature back in the day.
it actually used to be important in twlb-games to have some guy in spec just concentrating on the nme terr; inform where he put his port, when he is out of a port, when he's low on energy/emped; and sometimes the same with their sharks (when out of reps).. it wasn't lame, it just add to the depth teamwork used to have in basing..
in ld it's of little use, in dd when chasing someone who picks up a lame fullcharge you could be warned though, that'd be nice.
i never got why we suddenly weren't allowed to see stats in spectator-mode anymore.. esp. in javs it's also more 'fun' for spectators, a lot of narrow-escapes in that league.. and it could be helpful for newbies (and people who just suck at energy-management )..

                    so yeah, i support this!

Yes, Can hunt energy hackers that way... and actually see whether some ppl have just the most obnoxious spikes instead of them seeming to use no energy while thrusting...

                      All for this.

Energy calling from spec is part of the game in chaos league, same with specials, except it is basically useless in there because ship recharge much longer than 4.5 seconds (or so) in here. You can't really yell about energy comprasion in warbirds with such little amount of time, for you are supposed to see the energy of the ship you spectate (although it would be fun to have global energyview for purely learning purposes). Speccers in twlb/twbd might be of greater use.

                              Yes i agree

Yeah its a nice idea and spectators should be able to view energy. It would be more fun and ppl would start to notice how the good players save energy. Also would make newbs stop calling the good players cheaters, since there would be no doubt where the energy came from.

Also,I think it's bs that it would interfer in the game.At least in warbird, the way the energy work is too fast, being extremely difficult to another player from spec telling the player that is playing how the energy of the enemy is.Also, even if someone try cheating like that,i believe it woundlt be sucessful, it actually, would only distract the player that is playing.buuuut...

WHAT COULD INTERFER TOUGHT, IS KNOWING IF THE THE PLAYER HAS ANTIWARP ACTIVATED OR NOT. if there is no way to separate the energy view from the situation of the antiwarp, then keep it hide.(TALKING ABOUT WB.)
