  • Youtube, Twitter, Myspace, Facebook for TW?

I checked out Youtube, and although a seach for "Subspace" will eventually lead to Subspace Continuum or Subspace Trenchwars footage, it's not at the top of the list, and it's grainy in fullscreen. So if you don't already know what you're looking for, you probably won't find it, and if you do find it, you won't likely be impressed.

What we need is a solid, slick presence on Youtube, Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, etc. That seems to be an effective way to make Subspace more known to the current crop of casual netizens.

Maybe show a hotly contested flagroom in the Roboboy pub, with non-grainy fullscreen, and sound effects not masked by rock music. If a good squad using something like xfire for voice communication can make the video, so much the better. People need to see how this game rocks for team play. Heck, this game IS the coveted endgame of team vs. team PvP with objectives without all the pointless and unbalancing grinding in other online games.

We need to show that off; new people need to see the action, the sound of free, intense, flagging "do or die" action.

    Just a thought, anyways.

    Peace.

EDIT: I mentioned xfire, heck maybe even quick webcam takes of the players behind the ships, because people seeing our promos need to instantly realize that this is a team game, not asteroids. You are thrown into intense action with other human beings, right off the bat. Every ship you see is a player, just like you. With no tedious death penalties (EVE ship loss anyone?) or leveling. Heck if done right, our little 2D shooter can be shown for the amazing high-octane adhrenaline-pumping time waster that it truly is! Well, here's hoping.

EDIT #2: Voice from x-fire would also show the strategy to the viewers, and help them understand what they are seeing.

"Sharks keep repping that cram, Spiders take your positions, keep up that suppressive fire. Spam 'em all to hell!"

"Holy Cow. Two second OMFG flag reset with a Jav push, while their Shark reps defenders off the flag from below. Inconceivable!"

"Take it to mid boys, we are getting Jav bombed to heck in FR. Crap. 5fer, nice Jav bounce. TD. Terr dead."

"Cmon sharks, rep us in. Push push push in. Death and glory!"

    "Terr has a port. All turret now. Warping to FR in 4, 3, 2, 1 ... "

I don't know about you, but if I saw footage like that, even for a 2D game, I would want to try that sucker out. Starcraft is still going strong in its 2D greatness, we should expect no less for ourselves.

The only way I can see people being interested in youtube footage of Subspace is if someone did something dumb or funny in it. For example, 2 guys in a room and Guy 2 unplugs the computer and the Guy 1 freaks out saying "I WAS PLAYING SUBSPACE, WTF" and just freaks out on the Guy 2 and the Guy 2 is falling down laughing.

How about we make Xog sing "what what in the butt" with a continuum poster in the background. Then I will have more homogafs to insult.

Yeah... forget the quotes, maybe someone speccing different players in the middle of a fr battle like a spider, terr and so on. Also footage of warbirds (or javs) dueling would be nice. (To be honest I think the average population of MySpace/whatever would be more interested in online asteroids than a complex teamgame.)

Maybe someone could post this kind of "educational" videos about Continuum like the ones suggested above, then maybe ones from DSB, EG... under the name GetContinuum, along with a description of the game and the video being watched.
