I have been playing SS Trench Wars for many, many years under different nicks (DaGunslinger, Tweetstar, DaTweetstar, Gunslinger II., DaTweetsis, and maybe some others I forgot all about). I have always loved basing, the competitiveness of it. In the past year I unfortunately haven't had the chance to play as often as I would have loved to. Nonetheless, I log in every now and then. However, I can't find that game I love so much anymore. Where has it gone??? This is the account of my past 10 log-ins:

I log in and get spawnkilled within the second a couple of times before I finally can survive long enough to find a terr on my freq. When I finally find one, the terr is involved in some backgame, trying to find a way to get to base. I come to his aid, when suddenly some levibombs destroy everything and anything that flies.
    Sigh.
    WTF?
I take a look at the available arenas, because when levi's are involved there is absolutely no way you can find a decent basing game. Experience has taught me that. Arena 0, in which I'm at, is completely filled. Other arenas ...
    WTF?
13 players in the second arena. 2, on a lucky day 5 players, in other arenas besides the first two.
    Sigh.

    And then I wonder...
Which crazy retard killed one of the greatest games ever to conquer the interwebz??? It's like spraying graffiti on the Mona Lisa, like ruining things like the German emperor Wilhelm II. ruined everything Bismarck had so carefully build up, like George W. Bush governed his international relations, like folding queens preflop on the final table of the World Series of Poker when the biggest fish available just moved in with jacks, like...
    And I wonder...
    Why? Why?
    WWWHHHYYYY?????

I'm not a person who usually begs, but now I beg you:
Please, oh please bring back the game we love.

Public 0 is the public arena for all ships and has a free basing game (no warp at start)
Second public arena has the leviathan restricted, private frequencies restricted (only two teams) and has a more stricter basing game (warp at start).

Some time ago these public arenas were reversed, the first public being the one without the leviathan and without private frequencies. The public arenas were reversed as players were always having trouble getting into the first public as it filled up quickly to the maximum. Unfortunately now most of the time the second public arena hasn't got enough players to play a good basing game and complete newbies don't understand that they can have a better basing game in the second pub.

Megakinky, even though you have good points, you don't give your opinion to what should be changed to make it more to your likings.

Could always add a vote system to the bot and every few rounds or so vote on whether it will be pure pub or not for the next few rounds. If voted for levi/weasel's and such, add at the end of the vote "if pure pub is desired, please go to the second pub" Or something along those lines.

This could encourage, at least, a few players to switch over and maybe a 6v6 game could be created in worst case scenario in the second pub while all the LTs pwn up pub 0. Just a thought.

Also, could reduce the time allowed in spec to a minute and not allow people to stay longer even if they are at the computer and just not playing. People can spec chat in other arenas to let people who want to play, play. Just my opinion though.

Voting on levs / no levs was very controversial when it was tried, as players are split about 50/50 on what they'd rather do. In a worst case scenario (and this happened often), about half the players are upset because they can't play their preferred game in any arena.

Reversing the order of pubs once again would be nice, so pure pub is pub 0. The lev/LT game has long been favored over the basing game, and it would be nice to switch that for a change.

The arena capacity should be reduced to 35 as before, or even lower, to 30. That way there would be enough players for critical mass in 2 arenas. For the number of players who now play pub, it seems that pub 0 tends to be full while pure pub accumulates a dozen or so people who aren't really motivated to start a basing game, so they sit there and wait for a spot to open in pub 0. Even if people would rather play purepub, a 40-person crappy basing game with levs is better than a 3v5 basing game without them.

Compromises for a dying game... :crying:

kinda funny this guy gets spawned immediately because he cant locate a terr. i watch the entry messages and i do end up spawning a lot of them - mostly because my team has the base so locked down i am below the center tube in my protection efforts.

maybe newbies should be auto-selected to spawn in a little safety grid somewhere, and be capable of turning the location off. simple enough if people are guarding that to send a ?help and have them kindly warned that it's rude and repeat offense will get punishment.

P_L just said 2 days ago he's going to make sure the implement on arena sizes is based on population in the zone.

I realize people are obsessed with lting. why not just bring the limit down on maximum number of terrs instead of levs. the levs will just be forced to attach to the base terr, and inside base they're susceptible to everything like cloaks and sharks repelling their bombs into their team - solves that nonsense.

you can always use !t now, but nobody that's new, or even remotely experienced will know that for a long time. this game is actually really hard for beginners who dont have anyone to show the ropes like an older brother.

i figure we should implement a less manual way to attach to terrs, or even a command to tab between two selected players, instead of constantly having to tickname manually. we could make it go by letter like shift+f7 opens a little thing, then you type the letter and the ticker moves to the terr closest to that letter.

(and if we really want to control lting somewhere, make sure terrs cant go above the ears of the base on the outside without getting warped)

thanks xog, its really nice having useful informants. this is my first day on forums i have no idea how people prefer to read things.

The effects that are planned to be studied on the kinetic level are: Laminar and turbulent flow; the transition between both; thermodynamics and self-organisation of complex plasma flows; solitons and shocks; interfaces and plasma instabilities; agglomeration and disagglomeration. For low-frequency excitation and confining particles modulated RF coils and high-voltage supplies are foreseen.
