  • Map Making

Ok this is my first post and the reason is this. I downloaded the trench wars map making tool and was very interested in this. But I was wondering if there was a way u could actually test the map on your own computer? without paying for a own zone or anything just to test the map by yourself. If somone could tell that would be great.

Someone move this to tech help, But:

Making your zone isn't expensive. Its free if you run it off your computer, If you have any 'friends in high places' they may be able to upload it for you (sysops) in their zones.

Once your map is completed email: kingz@trenchwars.org with a description of what it is for.

There is an option to play local levels in Subspace 1.35. After you download this, rename your level local.lvl and copy it into the subspace directory. Once you start up the game, click on tutorial and it should let you run around your map. There is no lvz support here and you cannot change the ship settings.

Sure you can, just edit the file called...umm...Ok, I don't remember what the file is called, but there's a file with ship settings, which you can edit.

Ah youre right jonas!! its a file called local.cfg... just edit it in notepad or something. I think its created after you run the local level once but im not sure.

            To shippou:
            1) download Subspace 1.35
            2) make your level
            3) rename your level "local.lvl"
            4) put local.lvl in your subspace 1.35 folder
            5) run subspace 1.35
            6) click on the button labelled "tutorial"
            7) if you wish to edit settings, open the file "local.cfg" (thanks jonas! )

            gl!

hehe shanky tells you how to set up a server...

if youre just doing map making without lvz i would use the local thing though... its 100 times easier :P
