Well it seems the Mortal Kombat franchise is still clinging on, with what little bit of fan factor they have left. Though this trailer makes me very curious as to how this new "supposed" movie will turn out.
Basically, take everything you've learned of the MK universe and its history and toss it in the trash. They've completely revamped the entire storyline and character bios. Reptile is this guy with a genetic abnormality and is a cannibal on top of that. Baraka is now an ex-medical surgeon turned psychopath and is somehow a Jamaican? Yeah, I didn't get it either, but regardless, he still looks pretty sick. Jax (now referred to as Jacks) is now the head of an undercover operation working for the police force trying to investigate the mysterious happenings within these elusive murders. Sonya is some dyke working alongside Jax. Johnny Cage is a decapitated corpse. Shang Tsung is now running some underground syndicate. Sub-Zero is still alive, though his brother was killed in his place. Scorpion is some Asian assassin that speaks proper English and is being bribed into working with the porkers.
In all, it's a toss up for me. I'll probably just end up downloading it rather than spending money to go see it in the theaters, though, once it gets around time for release and it looks promising enough, I just might splurge some cash on it. Only time will tell...
Without further adieu, the Mortal Kombat (M rated) trailer.
