This is the same thing that always happens I don't see why you are so shocked. How many coders have done work for Trench Wars, became staff, coded something that exceeded their authority, implemented it, had people complain, and quit staff and coding. This is pretty much what always happens. But the good news is that you can fix the public arenas without any new coding, in fact you don't even need bots in the arena to fix it, I highlighted how to do this in another thread.

Now as for Dexter I agree he was a great coder, and he did some great work for this zone, it is sad that he left because of this but unfortunately coders become so attached to their work that they refuse to listen to reason when it comes to realizing that not everything that they code is going to be popular, or even correct for the zone. Furthermore this all stems from the fact that he unknowingly took ideas from a pro-distension player who wanted nothing more than getting the only reason he plays continuum into the games biggest zone.

If you want to hear my ideas feel free to PM me or you can continue blaming publics sucking on whatever you want, continue blaming people quitting staff because people in this zone suck, and continue trying to not be a good dean and understand that keeping a majority of the players happy is in essence your job as one of the highest ranking members of staff.

Glav you had all the time in the world to partisipate in improving the publics while in staff but you never did. You think they are just fine the way they are now? Suddenly you seem to care

I don't think you should confuse publics with ?go base. The imperssion we've gotten is that a lot of pubbers are quite interested in buying prizes for earned cash, and it is creating more depth into the gameplay. Although it was rushed and wasn't properly prepared, discussed, advertised and explained it's something we could have worked on more to improve it. It's true fullcharges for example are a bad idea, ship restrictions were a bad idea, but there's more to it and if you would just think about it we could have an interesting pub. Pub isn't about skills, well maybe to the likes of Nockm it is, but to me or other random newbs it is. Yea I'm a happy newb in pub. I expect skillful competition elsewhere, pub is about doing your own thing.

The system would just need to be altered, possibly limit the options or make them harder to achieve and so on. This system would allow rewards from events outside of pub, and special events inside pub. Who here doesn't think that the TW publics have always been the most boring and least improved in Continuum?

Now that we lost another coder, a very special one this time, for ill-constructed feedback this will probably be put on hold or dismissed. You do realize it's easy to only bark without having to contribute yourself. After all these years you could expect more from the members of the community, but obviously respecting eachother is too much to ask for with all the grudges that we've built.

Who the fuk is cheese anyways. Why let some nobody programmer make changes to the zone. And who are the brain dead staff who allowed this..? (silly question. every one of them.)

Get your shit together. You tried it, nobody likes it. Back to the drawing board.

I do see the similarity to distension. As an avid distension fan, I decided to actually log into the game to try this new system last night and absolutely hated it. To me it was everything negative that people had to say about distension, and nothing positive. The money idea is neat, but IMO needs to be extremely limited. Way too many things are available for purchase. A shitty jav should not be able to line up a camp shot, have !buy <whatever # full charge is> set as a macro, and miss his shot 6 times, basically annihilating his entire team. But for the sake of being constructive, if you MUST keep the system, I'll offer a few suggestions.

-Raise the $ value of levi from $800 to $8000. They do ruin basing, make people EARN the right to ruin everyone elses fun.

-Raise the $ value of super from $5000 to $50000. I only played for an hour last night and got super twice. Thats too much.

-Set a TK limit for the players who choose to use a ship with bombs. This would prevent staff from having another reason to shit on the players, as the bot can switch people after X amount of tks automatically for Z amount of minutes.

-Have a !help command that players can type in pubchat to find the answer they need. E.G. !help money, !help buy, !help items...This also would reduce the need for the majority of useless staff you guys currently employ. (each !help can state that if they need further help, they can type ?help <question> for staff assistance)

-Simplify F1. If I didn't know this game so well I would have been confused as fuck by reading that new F1 menu.

-Offer $ reward for reaching milestone Bounty. E.G. Xx_Dragonlovergirl69_xX has reached 500 bounty in terr/100 bounty in warbird!! Be the first to kill him/her and receive a $500 reward! This rewards the high bounty, and the successful hunter. Which plays in favor for both sides of the player spectrum.

In the end, I feel like my suggestions will encourage MORE play, as players now have a goal to achieve, such as super and/or LTing. They will also limit the amount of staff complaints about *setship and ignoring ?help/?cheater calls, as well as limit the need for so many useless staffers. Just think, staff could go back to actually having standards again! I also tried to have my ideas favor all the different types of players you find in pub, except the moron javs, and pretty much all the levis. I still think this idea is crap, but maybe with some TLC you clowns can make something of it. Best of luck.

On a side note, how can a dude that hardly speaks english learn how to code a bot? Pretty neat i think.

I don't believe this is a good move for TW, personally. It seems like you are changing things for the sake of change.

im pretty sure nockm nailed one of the key points right on the head and worded it well.

But anyway... this system is breaking the fundamental invariant of TW:

Whenever you play, you're at a level playing field with everyone else. Any advantage you have is down to skill level alone.

Are we really sure we want to do this? Once we have this system, god knows it'll be added to because once a framework is in place - that's what'll happen. The only other alternative is to pull the entire thing down.
is this one of the primary ways to increase intrest in pub? to reward players with ship bonuses the longer they play in pub?

keep in mind this was only a test, and the first test at that.
the bug with the broken limiter is known, and will be fixed soon, so the limit stated in f1 will soon be in effect.
additionally, the small weasel will be returning, so fear not =)

thanks for bringing up the f1, its quite easy to tack on the default f1 onto the end, thanks for informing us.

This system is broken. I kinda like some of the ideas behind it, but it needs a major overhaul. Being able to buy reps, fullcharge, and burst pretty much constantly ruins everything. I've been abusing the system for a couple days, and despite how much fun i've had doing so, I gotta tell you it is BROKEN.

Sharks pushing into base with 15 reps.
    Terrs bursting CONSTANTLY.
Javs launching a nearly endless stream of bombs.

It's messed up. Fix it, or remove it.

Another complaint from me is the weasel. If I have to pay for it, then I want it to be TINY. I'm not gonna waste money on a weasel just so i can lay bricks.

Another complaint. The new f1 menu. I can't tell noobs to press f1 when they ask a noob question anymore. Most of the info in the new f1 menu is worthless crap anyway. I'm sure you could fit the small amount of acctually usefull information into the message you get when you type !help, and add the stuff you can buy into a message from typing !buy.
