I bought a game magazine in like 1997 or 1998 here in Brazil. I don't really remember.
It had a CD which had some games and demo versions, it had subspace.

I showed it to a friend... "Spok" ...

he played for some months, thats it.
I showed to others friends also, but they didn't care/like it.

this was back when high-end computers were like 400mhz so it was pretty much the only game i could play

played Infantry, which came with Cosmic Rift. Sucked at Cosmic Rift and asked the guys on top of the leaderboards how they got so good, and they said SubSpace. Downloaded it, the rest is history.

i only remember people on subspace bitching about infantry going p2p and wondering if ss would go the same way. i tried playing it once but the website was annoying to use, and the game was annoying to play (i was in like the fifth grade, anything more than up-down-left-right-shoot was beyond me)

This is my story as well. Cousin W!inter V@mp!re got Humid and myself involved. This was back in the day before there were bots for DDs, so dueling consisted of going to a private arena, lining up in the opposite two safe zones and fighting took place in the area south of the base. I can recall that speccing at 10 deaths was done completely on the honor system and there were no points, only pride, on the line.

I only infected one other person, a HS friend of mine. He still plays under Darck and I have over 7500 posts on the forums. sigh.
