i agree 100% eph, but the masses want what they want. most of the kiddos like to advertise their spaceship accomplishments or obscure inside jokes from private chats.

Just out of curiosity, what is the value of the signature? For me, they are the equivalent of forum SPAM, redundant crap that hits me in the face over and over (which is why I have them turned off). Even the 11 year olds who use them as some kind bragging section seem to misuse them, listing things that no normal person would want to brag about (wouldn’t it make more sense to list things like ’15 time blood donor’, or ‘$1.3M in my bank account’, or ‘laid anytime I want’).
Using them for funny tag lines doesn’t make sense to me either. Nothing is funny after seeing/hearing it 100 times.
Of course I would never get tired of seeing a nice pair boobs, thats the only thing I think sigs should be used for.

hms is going to disable youtube vids asap.

as for allowing images, there's a brief bit of discussion to be had as far as size restrictions. i also believe we'll be disallowing animated images. don't want some joker have a seizure inducing 4chan pic for a sig.

and finally, length restriction. it was a 50/50 split between 5 and 10 lines. i imagine we'll go somewhere in the middle, probably 8 lines.

maybe we'll test a size out, and if it seems to be bothersome for too many people, we'll shrink it down until we find something that works

Well yeah, but I voted no because reasonable means different things to different people. For example, when I'm on here on my netbook or phone something reasonable on my laptop might not be reasonable anymore. However, if there was an option for a couple specific numerical size limits, I probably would have voted for that.

edit: oops, posted at the same time as you panda. as far as allowing images goes, my second post of the thread states:

one thing to note, if it turns out that everyone agrees to allow images, we will place some reasonable restrictions on size, and of course, no porn/gross shit/etc.

i have yet to decide what "reasonable restrictions on size" shall entail. it's pretty common to allow web banner sized images in sigs, which means you'd probably be looking at something not much larger than the TW Trench Wars graphic that adorns the upper left of the forums.

I think we need more options on the "allow images" vote. An image the height of a youtube vid is a lot different than an image that's only 50 pixels tall.
