Warzone wednesday!

I was pleased that last Wednesday saw just over 30 people outside of spec, actually playing! Nothing like a good 30v30 Warzone match, but way better than the <10 people who showed the previous week.

Ok whatever.

I'm going to stop there and admit this is just a thinly veiled attempt at encouraging someone to FIX OCTABASE. I don't know wth is wrong with it, but pinkSTAR says the bot is dead.

Daily messages in ?help have yielded nothing. Octabase is just a Warzone arena with more ridiculous ship settings. I propose one of the useless bot fixer dudes (veloce/WingZero/????) get on the task of ensuring Octabase is in running order. This way, if Warzone becomes more popular, we can (maybe?) host Octabase in its place one week, and hopefully people like it, too.

I know no one cares but me, but it is worth a shot.

Also, attend Warzone.

Warzone Wednesday was fun yesterday, we had to spam out some zoners but at the end we had around 40 people playing it and it was another success. Keep it up everyone!
Anyway, Octabase should be fine, no bot problems so far, it's just a lack of interest by hosts I think.
If more people request it to be hosted, it could turn out to be a success as well. Maybe even for a Weekend Event.

M_M... the bot that hosts it (Gammabot) seems to pop up and disappear on it's own. Unless pinkstar was fucking with me, the bot appeared to me while I was idling in ?go octabase. I was able to !start it and use other commands but it (again, unless pinkstar was fucking with me) had turned itself off and logged off. Shrug.

if i remember right, the reason why octabase bot is disconnecting is because of a database error. not too sure how that can be fixed, but it can't access to the database at the moment forcing it to disconnect.

or then my memory just fucking blows, someone explained me the reason aeons ago. :fear:

After trying it twice and being team-killed numerous times, I found WarZone less than satisfying. Is the cash reward system setup so that it somehow rewards team-killers? If it isn’t, is it possible to configure it so that team-killers lose money? Of course it could be that I still have a bad taste in my mouth after Lefty reset the scores in middle of that WarZone tourney we were winning at the time!

Speaking of getting TKed. Is a point requirement for using levs going to be implemented? Team balance and proper gameplay is being hindered by poor ship choices. Mostly by newer players.

It isn't that I want to discourage people, but its seems many of the people showing up still don't fully understand what is going on.

I would suggest giving everyone on the winning freq during the warzone wednesday event gets a 1500 dollar pub cash coupon, and just keep it locked with a host that adds people in and changes ships for people.. would really get some population if that happened.
