  • proposal for warbird tournament

    hello.

i would like to propose a warbird competition for subspacers with a BIG CASH PRIZE. obviously i will need some dialogue with people who are affiliated with the running of the game in order to get this started. if you think this is a good idea, then please say so.

so let's take a look at the proposal, shall we?

    The Subspace Self-Invitational Warbird Tournament

    entry fee: $10

    proposal:

the Subspace Self-Invitational Warbird Tournament is a new and exciting tournament competition specifically for one-on-one duelling in warbird!

now, when we say "duelling", you should understand that the duelling is to be done in the dedicated duel arena and not in the tiny pub duel arena.

so all the players players are divided up and assigned to a confederation based on their country of origin and then compete against each other to determine the best player from that confederation, with each winner taking home $60 prize money.

winners of each confederation then compete with each other to determine the Ultimate Champion, with a purse of $400.

    confederations are:
    - Asia-Pacific Confederation (16 players)
    - North, Central America, Caribbean Confederation (16 players)
    - South American Confederation (16 players)
    - Union of Europe Confederation (16 players)

the most improtant thing to remember is that it is a scheduled event so nobody is going to wait around if players are late. the game starts at an agreed time, the players weiner around like a couple of freaks shooting and dodging, then the game ends and the winner is advanced and the loser is knocked-out.

here is an image of the tournament set-up:

    thats all for now, okay.

i think most good players would be down for a real money tournament. but instead of winner takes all, top 4 should get money to keep people more interested and willing to throw in cash to play. i don't see why things like this don't happen at least once a month

but fuck that ?go duel arena

How about two separate leagues? American League and World League? American League can be broken up in Time Zone Division (pacific division, central division, eastern division, etc.). Shrug.

                status update

                okay...

                two confederations:
                - USA & Canada
                - Rest Of The World.

entry into confederations is first come first serve to make the tournament egalitarian.
                line-ups are randomised.
                32 players in each confederation.
                entry fee $10 (paypal).
confederation champions (2) receive $120 each.
ultimate champion receives an additional $400, automatic entry into the next tournament, and the title of Ultimate Warbird Champion of the Universe.

                rules
                - referee's decision is final
                - no game may be replayed under any circumstances
                - to play you MUST be a member of the subspace tournament page on subspace (marketing)
                - any person who violates any tournament rules is liable for suspension and forfeits all entry fees and all rights to claim or hold any trophy or prize money in the tournament
                - the entrants names appear agree that the tournament, its officers or organisers, shall be liable only to the extent of retruning entry fees if and when these entrants shall be prevented from playing in the tournament through delay, unexpected yet necessary schedule change, or premature termination of the tournament, which may be brought about by war, national emergency, or emergencies or causes relating thereto or resulting therefrom, fires, strikes, lockouts, labour difficulties, terrorism or other causes beyond the control of the tournament association.

i can help out with the website, planning, and the scheduling of the event. i will need contact with the website administrator to get access to the server, and we'll need some referee volunteers. who would like to help? any volunteers?

                lets do it!

incidently, mythrill: my nephew gets $10 pocket money every week and he's eight.. most people have $10 lying around they'd be willing to wager on a bit of fun, especially for the chance to win $120 or maybe even the BIG CASH PRIZE of $520. not bad for a $10 entry fee. having said that, i'm not married to any particular idea, so if anybody has any other ideas to imrpove the tournament then tell me. also, i'll need help refereeing the matches and also the ability to put up a website on the twd website. who's going to help me with this?

so yeah, it'd be so much better if some admin from the game could work with me on this, let me put up a website on the official site, maybe set up a specific duel arena for the tournament, but of course i'm not holding my breath.

Lol, that was quick. You put all that effort into writing your post and then quit 1 1/2 hours later.

Who would back someone who loses interest so quickly? It's not a bad idea overall, and had been suggested several times in the past, but noone ever follows through.
The prize amount would obviously be determined by the amount of entries. If you have 20 people sign up @ $10 a pop, you can't promise $520.
