I managed to stream at near perfect quality back in the day when I had my awesome internet connection, thus we can use my setup to compare whether you can do great quality or not.

First and foremost, you need an internet connection which doesn't limit your upload speed to ridiculously low amounts. Go to speedtest.net and see if your upload speed is at a reasonable level (roughly 7mbps to 10mbps steady upload is good), your download speed doesn't matter at all when streaming online.

If your upload speed is alright (heck, even with 3 mbps upload you can do great quality) then next up is checking your system specifications. My computer isn't that great at all, meaning if you have a similar setup chances are you can stream at great quality with xSplit Broadcaster using Own3D or similar streaming site.

      Processor: i5-2300 @ 2.80 GHz (quadcore)
      Memory: 8 GB RAM
      Video Card: Radeon HD 6870
      Resolution: 1920x1080

I'm fine on the bandwidth side of things. I typically manage 33Mbps upstream out of the 35 I'm provisioned for.

        My hardware is:

Xeon X3440 @ 2.53GHz (quadcore and if necessary I could always overclock a bit)
        4GB RAM
        Radeon 5770
        1920x1080

If that'll do for hardware and someone is willing to walk me through the actual process of streaming, I'll give it a go. It's not like I have to worry about missing any playing time.

I'm not too sure about live broadcasts for TWL. I remember us trying it a few years back with a irritating 2-3 second delay. But, general commentary on the game (no play-by-play stuff) and some fresh trash talk would keep us thoroughly entertained.

You could probably do alright quality stream with that setup especially if your upload speed is what you're saying.

First off, download xSplit Broadcaster from www.xsplit.com and install it. Don't start setting it up yet, because you will need to make an account for a streaming site first. After downloading, head to www.own3d.tv and create an account.

When you have your account, login and go to "My Profile" and select "My Livestreams", then simply add a new livestream for your Own3D account. This livestream will be used for xSplit Broadcaster and you will need to link it to that program. It might take a while (up to two hours in some cases) for them to activate your livestream for it to be used.

Launch xSplit Broadcaster and go to Tools -> General Settings and select "Channels" from the tabs. Now, press the "Add" button to add your first livestream to the broadcaster and select Own3D in the dropdown menu that appears. In Channel, type in your own3D username, password and select the channel you wish to use. In Video Encoding, select XSplit Default as preset, quality as 7, Bitrate as 1000, Buffer as 1000 and Resolution as Default Stage Resolution. Also, tick the "Interleave audio and video in one RTMP channel" while we're on that screen. Next, hit OK and and go to the "Resolutions" area, find 1920x1080 (and 1600x900) and tick those two. Hit apply and OK.

Next, go to "File" and add a "Screen Region" then simply drag it across your monitor (or click once to select everything) and your screen will appear on the broadcasters preview monitor. Next, drag that image you see on the preview window and make sure it covers the entire area, thus not leaving any black areas open. When that is set, go to "View" next to "File" and set resolution to either 1920x1080 or 1600x900, depending on which one will make you lag less, frame rate to 30fps and scale viewpoint to 10%.

Now simply go to "Broadcast" and select your livestream from there, and hit YES if it gives some weird message telling that streaming with a resolution above 1280x720 is not recommended. Now your stream should be online and ready to be watched.

Just give own3D a while to activate your account/livestream.

That's my super fast and lazy way of describing how to set it up. Also, just remembered own3D has their own walkthrough, thus you can also check out:
