:Discussion: Move to Steam?

What if Continuum was moved to Steam as a free-to-play game? This has the potential to bring in more users. If any kind of money needed to be generated, maybe additional ship skins that all could see could be sold?

Trench Wars does not own the rights to the game, nor are we able to charge for anything due to this. Our only income comes from donations. Also, I've been told the game is so outdated that we'd need a serious upgrade to even get on Steam. We've looked at this idea, but it seems to be out of our reach at the moment. Thanks for the idea though. :3

Yes, what Aura said is true, sadly. We would need to have some serious updates on our Continuum client, which is just impossible right now. The only person who could do that is our original coder and sysop, PriitK. But he's either too busy or doesn't want to update it so we can put it on Steam. Trust me, several people have tried to get us onto steam, including me, Polix and others, and the option to join it is there..but there need to be some critical changes to the client which is just impossible right now. So we have to and are looking into other options to promote the game to the public right now, and to improve continuum and make all the zones work/coordinate better.

Perhaps he could be persuaded with payment? Do you have an idea of how many hours are needed to complete those critical updates?

I doubt PriitK can be persuaded with payments, this guy is responsible for Skype among other projects he has done/is doing. He just doesn't have the time to put into a 'simple 2d spaceship game' like he used to in the past. And I don't know exactly how many hours would have to be spent on editing/updating the continuum client for it to be able to work with Steam.

First of all we need more ppl in Dev, else nothing will get done. Concerning the client update: can't PriitK give us permission to update it? I'm sure this could be arranged somehow cuz we have some ppl who cud update it. Am sure of it.
