  • Pop Boost And why its not gonna happen.

Hey guys 15 year veteran dom here. So we've got shitty as bots. Ok...not a big problem. We are focusing on pub map...f****** retarded idea. The games that got people to play...people like me....who played for so long enjoyed elim and jd.....
We f***** up. We should of made jd javduel elim and duel better. Duel was made slightly better....
    Tourny was great....but it died....
This game is full of hardcore players who've been playing 6+ years...No new players want to put up with being slaughtered 0 - ?.

Pub cannot be modified or made better because = It's not supposed to be good, ur just learning game it needs not be complex. It's a small taste of greatness before you start division play. When you get more confident in personal ability you start duel and elim.

So let me break it down. Shit people shit game shit bots shitty public map. OLD ANTIQUATED GAMES ELIM JD JAVDUEL TOURNY....keep up with the times. OR just let it die. WHO HONESTLY GIVES FIVE F****** SHITS ABOUT PUB.

Example. In javduel why not allow like 10vs10....idea was shot down so quick i got a nose bleed.

When other things I've thought we should do have been done. Now people don't care what I think. Haven't logged in as of late. wtf is the point anymore. O. O PUB I CAN PLAY PUB...F***..YEA BABY PUB PUB PUB LEVI TERR KILL...F***...LOL IDIOTS - F***** JOKE....

AND 24 WON'T F****** ADVERTISE...F******* IDIOT- 10 DOLLARS I DONATED MEANT NOTHING. I wish people gave me money to squander. There are affordable game advertisers but you have to work with them and 24 will not do this

Anyways what a f***** joke. I'll be playing other games until the zone changes more. The amount of automation in elim javduel duel tourny and EVEN DIVISION....IS INADEQUATE. STOP FOCUSING ON PUB. PUB DOES NOT "KEEP" PLAYERS. We're all hell bent on gttting NEW players and WE SHITTED ON the people who been here through everything. Were doing all that work in pub...and were not even properly advertising.

One quick idea...is a fantasy division. IE - jd - Setting special rules for the game would be considered twjdf. I can think of countless examples of how we can add more without disturbing the games we know and love. fantasy could include options such as player swaps between competing teams, additional players 5+ per team. bd 20vs20 if you wanted.
THERES ANOTHER IDEA IDIOTS. THE IDEAS YOU SAY NOBODY GIVES YOU. ITS NOT HARD TO THINK THIS SHIT UP.....all im saying is we could have alot more FUN if LIMITATIONS are removed from the game. ENCOURAGE division to use more players. the more players used IN A DIVISION GAME SHOULD DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF RATING POINTS TRANSFERRED BETWEEN TEAMS - YET ANOTHER IDEA....F*** I FEEL LIKE ENSTEIN....

Lots of ppl care for pub,
I just think 90% of the 'real pubbers' dont even have a (active) forumaccount
so you don't hear their voice
    Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

I'm having a problem trying to figure out what your overall point is here.

"old stuff" like elim, jd, wbduel, TWD, TWL, are all running the same as they have been. They still attract the people who still play TW. Odds are that those people will keep TW alive for a while longer.

Meanwhile, you're saying that we shouldn't do anything to help / attract new players? Pub is the FIRST THING that new players see, their first introduction to TW (and probably continuum), and their first impression of whether or not they should keep playing. Pub is extremely important to the vitality of TW no matter how much attention is put on TWL by veteran players.

If new players don't like pub, TW is stagnant.

You're basically saying that we should throw all effort to attract new players out the window? Or are you saying that we shouldn't try to make pub better for new players until the advertising fund actually starts being utilized? I agree that it doesn't help that much at the moment to work on pub, since there aren't many new players starting to play because the ad money isn't being used. But on the other hand, we need to work on improving pub as much as we can to prepare for when (maybe if) the ad money gets put to use.

"No new players want to put up with being slaughtered 0 - ?" -- IMO a lot of problems could be solved by putting more focus on things with less of a skill gap. Like TWRC as I said in the TWRC thread a few weeks ago, and more / better variety of events would help too. I know that when I started playing TW and after I stopped learning how to fly in pub, I stayed in TW for the events because of the variety.

also, the FUCK NEW PLAYERS mentality is one of the things that made TW/continuum die in the first place

As Dameon Angell once said on here, the pub is our doormat.
If our doormat is uninviting, newbs wont stick around. Would you stick around if you walked in an everyone bullied you?
New players do come in occasionally, and we as staff do what we can for them, but there is also a reliance on the playerbase as a whole to be welcoming towards them.
As for advertising, read up on Kane's post about it, and keey your eyes open in the coming weeks for an update.

Paradise> No names but there's actually a black man in the arena right now.

              Jones> MAAAAN1111GA UCHIHA

Paradise> NO NAMES. NOT A SINGLE NAME.....but 3/6 of the players on Force are of a certain descent. I will not go any further.

From my experience, newbs who go 0-30 their first time dont often return. That spirit of friendly competition is much less common in the average pubber anymore. Another thing that used to help was having multiple puns, where you had some which were full of the highly competetive pkauers, and then the higher numbered pubs which were less populated and more casual. Too much has changed for us to be able to return to the old ways. Many improvements were highly beneficial, while others less so. We can only attempt to move forward with what has been planned. If this plan is successful, there will be a drastic change in many ways.

In the gaming community there is a current paradigm shift of sorts that has been going down for the past few years. You have players who don't trust publishers or critics, publishers who don't trust players or their critics, and critics who don't trust publishers or players. If you're a casual gaming observer, you probably haven't noticed it nor cared to observe it. With the rise of "freemium" games and a focus on the casual gamer, Subspace probably has it's best time to strike out for a rebirth right now more than ever.

This game is truly free-to-play and never pay-to-win. It's run by gamers for gamers, without an air of corporate greed over it. It also had such a rabid fanbase that finding positive feedback about the game would be easier than starting from scratch and trying to coax people to come in.

I figured after playing this game for 10+ years, some of my peers would have grown up to be rich and/or famous enough to build their own Continuum on an android platform, because the only thing holding this game back is it's coding and reliance on bots.

That being said, there is a hardcore community out there that would jump on this game if they knew about it. Here's the rest of my 2 cents on how to turn it around for you guys.

1.) Reddit promotion: The /r/games and /r/gaming subreddits are full of potential players that feel like they've been wronged by corporations and would give a game like this a shot.

2.) Kickstarter to fund a new game or update the code to modernize it, culling a team of freelance coders from /r/gamedev or something.

I'm just some dumb guy, but if anyone is actually serious about this, that's the place to start searching.

The first thing you must realize is that most players realize right away they were too late in trying to play this. The only thing you can do is making playing easier, i.e. an easier download and a friendlier receiving. However most will stop bothering when first viewing the graphics.

Maybe try allowing an preview-play on the browser..to get this game viral..

Port the entire game into a browser.

Ive been saying for months that making it a facebook game would get shitloads of players
However, I feel our current project will suffice fairly well at accomplishing that goal.

                          haha, look at this ignorance

"make subtinuum a browser-based game and we will hit thousands of users again!"

                          no it won't.

proof: there's already a facebook browser version of subspace. Nobody cared or played it.

I logged into it once. It lacks many features of the full game, and is not, in any way, complete.
