Can you name one player other than me who 'hides in safes just to get streaks?' What if I have to piss when im in the middle of a 72-0 run that takes 2 hours? I really would just like to know what you've added to the game by taking away this feature.

It makes tube mining sharks ragequit, so that's a plus. I would like to know what you've added to the game by tube mining and warping when people try to kill you.

And I've added plenty. But answering my question with another question makes no sense.

This game has always thrived on 3 different aspects of play and balancing them is what makes this game fun. Basing, spawn dueling, and miscellaneous pub laming (J12-Burst/BobR for example or roofers and LTs). Back in circa 2003 it was obvious that basing was broken. You couldnt sit there in base without 3 people on roof with javs and 2+ LT's clearing the whole FR in one shot. Then, basers got a hold of all the decision making and went completely apeshit to ruin that experience as I've detailed in various other posts. What you have now is a game that isnt fun to the other 2 groups. You cant spawn duel because there just arent enough people floating around spawn, and any time you find a new way to go get a streak and generally break the basing game staff immediately comes in and 'fixes' it. We have literally 9 years to show that these types of changes are devastating the playerbase and yet the same 2004 mentality of fixing the basing game and only the basing game persists. It's so bad that killothon lasted 10 minutes out of an hour and it had to be changed because it 'ruined basing' despite the fact that quite a few people actually played it. I guess what it comes down to is the most vocal group will have their changes pushed through at the expense of the other 2. It's been that way for a long time and finally I like to think that we're at the point where we have enough evidence to show we need to go back to the way things were a bit. I think I saw fis earlier admit that its not basing, its pub.

If you have ideas for improving Pub and are planning to present them at the meeting; here is my suggestion.

While I am sure all ideas and suggestions for improvement will be welcomed you will have the most sucess if your comments are positive/productive and selfless.

Ask yourself if your idea helps with new players. If it helps new players, if it makes Pub better for new players, or if it will help retain new players, your idea should get traction. If your idea involves something that doesn’t really help new players or favors more experienced players in pub 0, then you will probably have a harder time getting support.

Seriously confused about this but why is this meeting just going to be held in an arena with people moderating text? Why not do this properly and get on Teamspeak or Ventrillo or something and have people talk it out. That way everyone can listen to it, it can be recorded and everyone that doesn't have a microphone can just type it in the arena text and shaddow or another staffer can just call the idea out over voice coms.

And lets be honest... nearly everyone has a microphone now a days. If you have a laptop then you have a built in microphone. If you have a desktop then the chances are you probably are a gamer who uses the microphone for other games or you can just buy one for like 3$ somewhere.

It's much easier to manage things in-game, and record them for logging purposes.
Also, mic recordings with all the varied accents of players and staffers can make it hard to understand some.

You're delusional if you think people arent going to just push their own agendas forward, Eph. This meeting has a 0% chance of being productive cause that's all its going to be. Players like me won't care enough or will be working so won't show up, so once again the discussion will be focused almost exclusively on how to enhance the pub basing game that's been killing pub. Michelle!!, wiibimbo, PrettyMadness, 2pacZ, and thix will chime in with half baked ideas and new items they'd like to see in the bot store. We'll end up with streak module entirely removed since hiding in safe, speccing, shipchanging, and esc+q'ing to keep my streak going clearly negatively impact that pub basing game. An idea of a smaller spawn area, no safety map with the base even more prominently displayed will be tossed out, because with streaks gone and killothon removed from spawn there is literally no reason to be in the spawn zone/safes at all. Another rework to the weasel based entirely off of the !buy system will be thrown out there, because Spock! is literally the only person that ever uses this new one and it's not good at anything. The new weasel has a 0% chance of being 1 pixel and usable, because it's annoying to the basing game.

tl;dr for this meeting in advance:

- consolidation of zone will be focused on keeping wbduel/javduel instead of elim/belim because theyre more popular, despite the fact newbies never get added

- more radical changes to pub will be considered centered around the basing game, because pub basers are going to cry like they have been for 10+ years

- bot store additions will be talked about, because people like buying 10000 items to beat up on newbies with all their pub $

- tutorial arenas will be discussed, because this game isnt simple enough to learn how to move with arrow keys and press ctrl or ask questions

I'm going to be honest here, I love basing and having flagroom battles in base but we really; yes, TW has a basing focus but there has always been wbs fighting below base and that is EXACTLY how I developed an interest in wb (which also happens to be, or was, the #1 viewed twl event). BY forcing people into basing in pub means that players aren't experiencing wb anymore and through this we have seen a huge decline in any new wbs coming to twd and quite a few newer up and coming basers. Pub never used to force players to base, it let people do what they want to and trial basing or wb fighting below base etc and decide on their own terms if they want to focus their playing time on wb, basing or javving.

I feel a large part of this push for a focus on basing is due to the fact that 80% of staff and upper staff are basers. Obviously I'm not trying to bash my colleagues here, but we do need to consider that with such a focus on the basing side of pub we're seeing a decline of wbs. (I think this is completely irrelevant to the thread, but it should be brought up in the meeting).
