PubBux Reset

All players will be having their Pub Bux reset on Saturday, October 12th. You have until then to spend what you got before they vanish and we all start at square one.

Why reset? Just kill it off.
For years pub bucks sat under the surface of pub 0, rarely would a spider use it to buy anti to offset an LT (this includes ‘vets’). This means that pub bucks should have been killed off then; but instead pub bucks were expanded and further marketed as part of Pub 0. In one of the most misguided attempts at improving the zone features like donating, betting, and buying skill were added. I surprised the zone also didn’t add being able to buy naked pics of Renzi’s sister. (Why not? It would have been hugely popular and could have been expanded into selling even more porn.)

Pub bucks is an absolutely meaningless metric. It is possible to enter zone under a new name, beg a few pub bucks from someone else, and then start bet on dueling. In other words, you could accumulate a huge amount of pub bucks and never even play a minute. At one point I gave another player well over $800k in pub bucks in a single donation; did him having a huge amount of pub bucks ‘mean’ anything to other players?

The zone should just apologize for ever expanding a failed feature that should have never even existed and move on.

This is a barely acceptable compromise, but in a week or two it'll be right back to where it was. There are several reasons why this system was dumb to begin with, the most obvious being how it gives more advantages to veteran players over new players. The prices are all wrong and the payouts are too much. Still, its nice to see the zone start on track with a new direction. It's nice to finally see things taken on that other veterans and myself have been whining about for years.

Resetting pubbux every 2 weeks would be a good idea.

Still, now everyone is trying to use them all at once. I wonder if this is another staff-ploy to make people hate the whole pubbux system so they can finally get rid of it.

If the pub bux will be reset every two weeks, why keep it at all? We already have points that reset every two weeks.

Remember, people, it is not the pub bux system we must hate, but the mods. They're the true enemy.

Can someone (head of pub) tell me now when the next reset will happen? like in a month? half year? 2 years?
Would be cool to know so we're prepared.

Pubbux resets are going to be random. Nobody will be informed in the future when a reset is going to happen (not even staff). It will be somewhere around every six months to one year.

The reason for this is obvious. If people know that pubbux are going to be reset they will spam all their money and it will be chaos. Which is exactly what happened within the 3-4 days prior to the last reset (which was announced).
