If its true what they tell me: 250ish new players enter this game a month then it shows this game has potential to getting its pop back (game is not dead). Trial pub ideas to try and get new players to stick to pub, use bots to monitor the statistics. Update the public regularly: yes more new players are sticking to this game with this idea but not so much this idea or they are playing 20-30 mins longer than 2 months ago. Is there a bot that records how long new players stay online for? Or somehow monitor what they do before they quit? Is it that they get a 0-25 rec and think fuck this. Tws could b saved, just needs alteration of pub to incorporate some kinda of message that twd exists + by making pub look more fun. Maybe some incentive to play pub that we have not thought about - perhaps if it too hard to get new players to stick to this game, would it be wise to use the donation money as a reward for a brill idea/ development of the idea in pub? As soon as the new players start playing longer- game would start to get better

i know I'm prob waisting my time but meh: if u disagree with what I said then at least consider this idea: there should be a question of the month/ or season in pub? What would make you play this game more? Study the answers and work on a new idea taking into account these answers overall. Mostly will be graphics improvement but some would b useful

Now you get fined even for accidental TKs. I don't think anyone's listening to you.

Development is not only new developments, it's obviously maintenance as well. It is not TWDev's job to handle the management of moderators.

Which idiots are you referring to? If it's the developers you're referring to then you are not seeing the big picture. If the developers were not here there would be no zone. Period. There would be no zone, no websites, no forums for you to discuss it. Trench Wars would not exist. Without developers, everything would have ended when Priit lost interest years ago.

It is not the developers job to manage staff or handle disputes. We make sure the web servers, bot servers, zone servers, databases etc. continue to be funded, updated and maintained. You may not agree with some of the new developments, but without dev nothing would exist to complain about.

I don't play these stupid events. I couldn't care less.

TW sucks now, so I'm not playing it anymore. Even if it still is here. Is that a big consolation to you? You can pat your development back all you want, it doesn't change the fact that pub sucks now due to many stupid changes.

After spending some time on the forums, I've seen how big the problem is (I still hold that the problem is the mods), and I am no longer emotionally attached to the outcome. Maybe this game will die, maybe it won't, maybe it will get good again (but probably won't). When it's enjoyable again, I will play again.

It's hard to blame one thing for the decline. I mean, realistically speaking, there are several different factors. One of the factors is that the game has gotten a little old, and other players have decided to turn to different games. Which is unfortunate, but that's the reality. And finding new players to come to this game -- with all of the other options -- is our biggest hurdle. They're not emotionally obligated to play this game as some of us would, since they don't understand the history of this game.

Another factor is that people have gotten older, have gotten married, kids, careers, and it's become increasingly difficult to allocate that same time to this. I know for me, that has been one of the primary factors.

Overall, I do admire the people trying to revive the game. For me personally, this game has meant a lot and I'm sure to some of you guys, too. I wish I could think of something that could change this, but it's difficult as you guys know.

Yep, I've been doing the same. Sometimes I wander into TW by force of habit, get killed by a cloaker or LT without being able to do a thing about it, and remember why I quit TW. What a joke they've made this place.

I hope someone had fun with the donation money. Fuck if TW owes anybody jack shit, let alone an explanation for that $3 you donated in 2008. How about an ounce of gratitude for the people who hosted those classic TWLs or the people who paid the hosting costs for the love of it?

Here's a scary thought - the game died because it was always a niche game, better games got made and players moved on. Entropy killed this game.

When you have the current (well, the one that's been in charge for the past many years) crop of idiots in charge of "development", are you sure turning their attention to more ill-advised changes is a good idea?

You don't have to leave for good, poijiji. I'm taking a break until the current LT issues are resolved (and you can use antiwarp in the spawn area again). I am mentally prepared for a very long break. I have decided to "moderate" my expectations, since if I was to wait until someone with a brain was allowed to make the decisions, I would never play this game again.

According to what people have said, this game has been on Steam for a few months now. Greenlight is a similar service?

Perhaps we should try diverting some of this money from marketing, to development. From an economic perspective this game is almost absolutely unmarketable in this day and age.

Can someone tell me what happened to the steam/greenlight bid?

I do, in part, agree with voth. Yeah, this decline in players is natural, but I don't see the harm in having an aggressive marketing campaign that uses our resources and trying to win back a FEW players. You have to realize that we don't need thousands of players to revive this game. Imagine what 100 active, new players would do for this game. I think that's pretty achievable, once we learn how to quickly and almost immediately integrate players into squads and leagues.

You're right. Really time to stop wasting time/procrastinating by playing this game. I just uninstalled it. Have fun, y'all. It's been real.

when are you all going to realize that there is no reviving this game? it's dying/dead/never coming back.

our only option, for those who choose it, is to play out some more time with the people who feel like playing another twl, or logging in to pub or play wbduel/javduel/base occasionally. this is only going to happen with the same players who have been playing for years, minus the 85% of them who have quit for good. honestly though, game isn't much fun to login to because it's all randoms and no personalities anymore. don't know who staff is and they suck so bad at everything it's just insanity.

newbies (talking to pretty much everyone who posted in this thread that i've never even heard of): shut the fuck up and get over it. it's never coming back so enjoy the fall down if you want, or just fucking log off and never come back.

Your abuse of FiS caused another worsening.
While I agree that fis made many great changes to pub, neutering the 1-tile weasel was a bit stupid. It should have just lost a special (and not been allowed to buy outside safe). Agreed, that the new guy is far far worse though.
