  • Buy special weekends

Actually an idea in co-thought with Fork:

Place different pots every player can put money in for special weekends like basing weekend, no-buy weekend, boki weekend, fat weasel weekend, perma-hockey weekend or anything players come up with.

Keep the pots open until one is full, then the weekend will happen. No reset of the others then so all weekends get a chance.

Would be usage of cash (even from twd games) and could offer some interesting play while needing little work to implement.

+1 for player input decides what to play

Limit once each month (pots become available again at the beginning of each month)

Limiting might not be the best option. Balancing it by increasing the price for one weekend after it happened with a reduction towards minimum price each month might be a better option, since I do not see a reason for why a very popular weekend should not happen two or three times a month. If you completely block it, you also block incentive to work for it. The prices should be high enough from the beginning to prevent a long waiting queue of bought weekends. A little data on how much cash is gained per week might help on balancing this.

You could add an option to block specific weekends for TWL finals, holiday maps or the like though. One non-event weekend would be an option, too.

Btw, I think it would be a way better option to let players know the next weekend will be basing by players choice three times a month than just let remove some from the game randomly by buying them away at random times, which is pretty much like a 30 min ban for a group of players based on one single player's mood swings.

          Think about it this way:
Think about the weekend you would hate the most. Now imagine it happening every weekend for a month.

Popular is one thing, but forcing stuff down people's throats at the will of the big bank players is probably going to end up pissing people off. (Example: I would spend all my pubbux to make purepub EVERY weekend happen, and pool with others who agree and make sure there will never be a LT happening on any weekend ever again. As a player, I would be much happier, but it would greatly piss off those who like to LT.)

Edit: If you block it each month once it happens, it gives you the chance to have VARIETY, or save up to instantly ensure that the event you want will happen next month. There would be an issue of the same thing happening every week because three players who play continually want something more than 40 people who play only on weekends. (Three and 40 people being numbers made up off the top of my head, only to prove a point)

The weekend I'd hate most would probably be boki as I find trees in space just too disturbing, well maybe the Valentines maps are worse. But apart from that what I hate even more is how pub is handled the past years. There have been a ton of so-called tests put in, some even were supposed to end at some time, but everything stayed as it got in, forgotten and just there to annoy players forever like those super weapons or the asteroids everyone hates.

So if the alternative is that we can have a clearly set pub on weekends, even if that excludes LTs or anything else I might dislike and in exchange some of this bs in pub can be removed and repaired because people see how things can be better I am more than willing to submit to it.

Your theory of having basing every weekend is unrealistic in the light of this idea though, if say all players in pub made 10 Million bux a week I'd set the amount needed to at least a quarter of that with an increase of 20% of the base cost every time it happens and reduce it by 10% at the beginning of every month until the base price is reached again. Also maybe not everyone wants just that, they could want some version with 2003 settings or no buys or a blueout for the heck of it, which would also slow down the advance of basing weekend.

Forcing stuff down peoples throat is what happens RIGHT NOW.
