This is really the only thing one can say, yet the agonizing part is that it really doesn't solve anything. Add in the fervor of religious zealotry and it's really just an exercise in all the flaws that plague humanity.

However, the one point I have to pick on - Hamas couldn't be "easily wiped out" just by throwing troops and rockets at them, as you've mentioned they hide behind and blend in with civilian populations. Militarily speaking, it's an excellent strategy, if not an ethically dubious one. Any sort of effort to quell Hamas would only lead to occupation and oppression, which would only serve Hamas and their interests.

It's a fun cycle of people killing people whose children remember and wind up killing people whose children remember so they wind up killing people whose children remember so they wind up killing people. generations of conflict borne out of nothing more than memories of past offenses. It would be nice to see some sort of end to it, yet it seems that even the bare mention of the tragedy causes people to leap to one another's throats - people who aren't even israeli or palestinian.
