Pub Squads

[Pressure]

Make a ladder for pub squads (most kills, most points, best AVE, etc.) and I will be the first one to start one, as long as it doesn't directly interfere with TWD I'd be happy to do this. The ladder should be displayed upon entering the arena in the same way it is in elim. There should also be an easily accessible website update like there used to be (there might be one, but how would I know when the only sites I use are forums and TWD... find a way to integrate all of this and pub will get more attention)

The more active pub is, the better the chances of a new player sticking around

Pub squads were what MADE PUB FUN in the early days. It actually gave people a reason to spend their time trying to rack up kills and points. It was actually a feat when someone broke 10,000 kills (Sweet Leaf/DUTCH MADNESS/Cig Smoke did this a few times) or get 1,000,000 points.

Without incentive what makes me actually want to enter and play pub when I could get go base, javduel or wbduel going or TWD?

this can be done, and if we were to go to the extreme, we could have leaderboards in the arena updating in near real time. this would be very complex to code, or rather super time consuming, due to the need for a bot to pull the data from the website and display it with a complex lvz image system with multiple layers.

it wouldn't even have to be limited to squads, giving recognition to the players themselves would serve as an incentive to keep playing. i have suggested this several times, first time over six years ago, but its a big project.

we probably lack the resources for that complex suggestion, but it is NOT hard to do it every reset as its basically an image that needs to be updated every reset. i think the bots already gather squad points and scores in public, not sure if there is a ladder though.

Turban, it appears you just took thix's idea, made it more complex, then said the more complex idea is impossible to implement, then you said +1 anyways and now this idea is off to the graveyard.

If we cannot get the top 3 scorers names onto the pub map we might as well stop offering ideas altogether. It doesn;t have to be real time, just update it once every 2 weeks. Either put the high scores in A1 or better yet block out a small space in spawn so new players can see it when they logon and have an incentive for beating the scores. This idea is so simple but offers so much and it should have been done YEARS AGO. Every arcade game ever made has the 3 high scores show up right before you start playing. PUB is the heart of this game, it is where we all began and where we all go to when the game finally does come to an end. Incentivize playing in pub is essential at this point.

haha yeah. i realized that after posting, but went directly to bed to nap instead of correcting myself.

i think i said that we should at least do the simple one for the time being, as it requires close to no effort, though? maybe. too lazy to read my tired posts, and if we actually have the database/statistics somewhere, i can volunteer to do it on a reset basis.

i feel like getting that stat would just be a matter of tweaking whatever PHP calls that data from the db, not complex at all

haha, im pretty sure i could do it with a little googling and some redbull. then again, we are talking about a code that i imagine is just an amalgamation of different chunks written by different people over the years, so who knows what sort of obfuscation there might be.

but i wanna say that it's a matter of finding one or two sql queries and just changing the name of the table or column that the website pulls the data from, and you could display top pub squad statistics. not saying it's the most professional or pretty way to do it, but it would be a way to pull the data, look at it, and then update the public arena or something like that.

i haven't in years, but before web 2.0 and facebook all i did was basically hang out and design websites and make fun of people who used angelfire/tripod

but then again im sure a shaky knowledge of HTML/CSS and one or two PHP functions isn't exactly relevant in 2014
