You don't have to do that necessarily, Rab. You do have to start at ZH to learn the basics, but then you can go anywhere from there, really.

Especially on dev stuff you will not have to go through this. Apply and list what you can do and are willing to do and I am sure dev will be happy to include you. The only regular thing you are expected to do is follow the basic rules then.

Also, you can apply for specific departments like promotion, twd and so on. However, on those ways you will have to start as ZH to learn the basics, which should make sense.
