  • More Elim thoughts

    1. Promoting elim more would be a boost of fun to the arena, maybe adding it to the extreme league so players could check their rank easier, and change their banner and such, and maybe have its own hall of fame for i.e. Most Kills, Best ratio etc.

    2. Making another elimination arena for players with more skill. Requires atleast 250+ hrs of usage, etc.

    3. Do the same with Base elim

    just some thoughts.

Naw usage stopped being a measure of skill quite a while ago. Its true that most great players have a lot of usage, but there are even more below average players that have tonnes of usage. If they really wanted to make elim competitive with more honorable play they would have to create an invite only system where only chosen ppl get to play. This of course will never happen and would cause more problems anyways so its best to leave elim as the festering lame fest that it is

Oh and if u want to get input from some1 who can actually do anything about this, message Dock> constantly until he replies and gives you his view on it.

To boost the "fun" in elim, raise the skill level by getting rid of all the fucking spawning newbies and elim whores. Last time I played elim I pulled a 20-10 with no effort while talking on chats. That shouldnt happen... b/c I haven't wb'ed for MONTHS, and haven't played elim in a year or something. Its just boring now.

If you want to make elim more fun, up the usage limit to 500 and give good people incentive to play. Back in the day, #1 actually meant something so there was some competition. Actually... staff should close off all special arenas for a week. Make the zone pub-only... Sure, a lot of people would be pissed off (including myself), but it'll help the zone as a whole to 'touch base' and stuff. Dunno.

Having more than 500 does not show that you are good. I've played ONE single elim in the last year and a half and there I lagoutted at 1-1.

Top, you think that if you need 500 hours of usage that the spawning will dissapear?

Another thing, what about the people who alias? 36 hours is doable, but imagine having to stay afk for 500. Trench Wars already has a lag problem, and the more players, the more lag. Why do you think we have Mr. Arrogant 2? Elim is going to be the way it is, there is no way to fix it.

dont alias then , the usage limit was put to prevent aliases anyway .....

im totally against ranking more than one name in elim

alright, seems the usage idea was rejected, but what about the idea of intruducing elim into twel or its own league for more competive gameplay?

Huh? Wbduel is nothing like what i was talking about. First of all WBduel has to be activated by staff, caps are assigned in whichever way the staffer feels like it, yes a fair amount of good ppl play in wbduel's, but just as many crappy ones do, few ppl really put in effort because it doesnt count for anything (stats arnt recorded like in elim).

What i was talking about would basically be an elitest arena where only 200 or so expirienced/good players were allowed to play in. These ppl would be chosen by the most ego driven, know it all's in TW, and it would give yet another reason for old players to act superior. In case its not obvious, i dont think this would be a good idea on the whole. But, it would definetely be competitive and personally it would rekindle my ability to give a damn.

well actually in my opinion usage does matter.. up to a certain point. the current requirement of 36 hours is minimal. if you ask me anyone under about 500 hours is still a newbie in terms of skill development. i feel this way about my past, it wasnt until about 500 hours till everything just started coming together. a 500 hour elim arena would be cool but perhaps a bit empty. what i enjoy about the current elim is that i can get a fairly good rec before im out because there are a lot of newbs there. i can kind of tell because on my first life or two ill have a rec like 5-0.. and then when the easy ones get eliminated it subsides to about 10-10.

i talk a lot of trash in pubs and it usually ends up in a lot of people asking to duel me. i never concentrated on dueling and as a result am not very good at it.. so i usually dont accept because its not an accurate way to compare skill. however if i know that a challenger's usage is below 500 ill accept the duel because the only thing i lack in dueling is fine tuning whereas a person with below 500 hours usage doesnt understand how things work as well.

The best way to improve elim would be to have two wb elim arenas. Each would be limited to having like 20-25 people, more people than that would go in the second arena. This would help elimnate spawning, becuase the map would not be so crowded that you could actually leave the spawn area.

Actually ppl stopped caring about it 6-12 months b4 elim was split into 2 arenas. Throughout that period, javs were becoming increasingly more popular. When i started in elim 4 years ago WB's was voted 80-90% of the time, while in the year b4 elim was split games were getting close to being split 50/50 between javs and wb's. That was causing a lot of ppl who liked only javs or only wb's to get really pissed off when their ship wasnt picked for the next game. That and the increasing number of ppl in elim were probably the 2 main reasons they finally split elim into 2. Unfortunetely by that time elim was being played by mostly newer ppl and the competition was just too watered down to be of any great interest to older players unless they were bored or needed to get some rust off their playing skills.

Split TW into two separate servers, one for team orientated arenas and one for non-team orientated arenas. I think that there is enough of a core philosophical difference between these types of play to justify the split. Keeping all team basing and related arenas on one server and all non-team arenas on another would seem to be a good way to avoid many controversies that arise over the two distinct perspectives that each style of play represents. Hell, it would even help reduce the lag.
This is, of course, assuming that having 525 people in your arena isn’t the same as letting people know the size of your penis.

PriitK has to pay for the server once sonera dropped it, so do you really think he is gonna shell out the extra 250 bucks a month because it's less "controverisal". Why is it controversial? If you don't want to base, you type ?go elim, or you go to a pub and spawn.

On another topic wth does this have to do with more elim thoughts?
