VIE Clone Skin [download]

After many hours of working around the limitations of makeskin.exe and Continuum (no offense intended), I've finally completed the first version of my VIE clone skin for Continuum.

Here's a screenshot...

The ships ARE animated. (in this version)

VIEd_v01.skn

clone of the SubSpace 1.32 UI

you cannot see custom ships - intended for SVS players

arrow buttons (on left) are nonfunctional as there is no such function for Continuum
(use left/right arrow KEYS to cycle through ships)

place file "title.dat" into your main Continuum directory to make the client say "SubSpace 0.38" instead of "Continuum 0.38"
(sorry, it will say "SubSpace 0.39 prerelease 1" if you're using .39pr1 - blame PriitK, not me )

right side extended some so most zone names are not abbreviated

"main menu" button switched to "options" (since there is no main menu )

color depth should be 32-bit

possible alternate versions coming soon...

[still ship images instead of animated]
[different color depths]
[fully modded - advanced options, trace, next/previous profile, etc hotspots]
[extended zone list width to allow less abbreviation of zone names]

the rotating ships are a little choppy, and the arrows to the left don't work. Not bad nonetheless

Anyone know where I can download the skin by "Afk" he called "classic?"

I downloaded the skin, but there was a problem unzipping it... anyone else getting an error? Or know where to download a working file?

ya, a bit
the skin uses only like %25 of the total number of frames from the original animations because makeskin.exe only allows for 256 characters per line thus leaving me with a max of 25 alt overlays (and even then only after laying out the .bmp in a very strange way)

Mr. Ekted told me he may allow for more characters in future versions so this could be fixed...BUT....

with all the frames it will be smoother than now, but slower than the original animation since the fastest skin animations can go is slower

yap, there's no function for them to work

as I said above, that's as fast as animations are allowed to go, the only way to make it seem to go faster would be to remove frames, which would make it look more "choppy"

maybe I'll pester Mr. Ekted to add support for faster animation, too

I use the skin I stole from the Elusive website, it's a black/grey/silver theme, but I'm too lazy to post it. If any ex-Elusive players have a link to it, post it here. The website doesn't seem to be working.
