  • New generation of Trench Wars players and league

I come to the Trench Wars board in peace, no flaming like in the past.

Making a comeback to trench wars, I have been inspired to win two leagues at once this season. However, I have noticed Trench Wars isn't exactly the same as the previous seasons. I am going to note some changes what I feel is pretty significant in how Trench Wars Leagues has improved/declined.

    1) The website structure is superb. Integrating all those squads and records in the site is outstanding. Wish we had something back in 00 when TWL was updated manually and there weren't any stats recorded or anything.

    2) Most of the players in league now, roughly 85% of them I hardly recognize. It could be due to the fact I took a 4 month hiatus from the game, but it seems that most of the veterans from 3-4 seasons ago are now gone. There are new faces and new talent and it seems Trench Wars has evened itself out in terms of talent especially this season. Every squad practically has 2-3 power players while the rest are supporting cast. Unlike before where it came down to two squads, this season will probably be the most fair of them all.

    3) I'll categorize Trench Wars into 5 generations of players. You have the first generation with MiketheNose, Akilla, CoL and them. Then you have 2nd generation which is TWE and when i first started playing along with playres like Captain Pickle. 3rd Generation is the beginning of emergence of true supersquads with Rampage and Elusive. 4th generation is the Elusive/Siege players. The 5th generation is nowadays where none of the previous squads still exist (the power squads IE Elusive, Siege, -Final-) but there are a lot of new and talented squads on the rise filled with good players.

Its awkward for me when I try and play because I hardly recognize anyone. Aside from my chats, I dont really know anyone outside of them. I'm afraid my generation is dying. there's probably a handful left..around 5 or so which kinda sucks.

However, with new players like demonfaze, ripper, Merce and other star players, I am excited to see how the season will play out because everything is equal now..well at least in terms of warbird dueling.

For the record FF, we're the same generation.
The only TWO TIME TWLJ All-Star and TWLB All-Star who never played a game.

I'm of the generation that started nearly 2 years before Trench Wars did (but yeah I'm not that old in TW).

There are a lot of new faces definitely. A lot of new talent has come up, I don't know if that's largely because of twd or what, but I think a lot of the old guys are still around, at least occasionally.

With Elusive, Shriek, Rampage dissolving and a few surprise new players showing up, there is a ton of talent floating around right now. We'll see if by the time next twl starts if a new Elusive/Siege/Final/Rampage squad is formed before leagues and a bunch of the familiar guys go to that or if it goes in all different directions.

Edit: Just saw that Syndicate exists. Definitely has the talent of a supersquad, but it's got a lot of the best of the new guys rather than that old vet feel, so it's kinda different.

ya agreed...ther is tons of new talent floating out and about...but 1 day they are squadless...the next day 1 of the new "made-2-win" squads snatch em up...then 2 weeks later htey are either squadless again (bc squad died) or on another squad bc they usualy hopped. thats the problem w/ the "new talent" they tend to hop more then the older guys

              my 2 cents are this:

back when u played at uor top FF not many people were good , and those who were good were only enuff of them to fill up 2 squads that would battle it out in the end .....

these days every newbie can access elim and other events therefore the skill level is pretty even beetween everyone, thats wat makes it fair.

and judging by the current rosters id say this season will be the most competitive ever since the talent is really well spread. However it is most likely that 3 or 4 good squads will merge together like always and make a supersquad and turn this into a boring season once again.

This past season was nice tho.

And im still waiting for the 6th coming of Shinobi in this off-season lol

All the old vets are there, they just changed their names again. Look harder.
