hey im new to this forum....anyways, recently i've been playing sharks both on the offensive and deffensive and have been quite successful in kills. is there a way of anti-shark mining in the entrance?

if you have shrapnel and place mines next to walls, the shark will repel the mines into the walls and could kill itself via the shrap or emp blasts.

Try to keep track of how many reps your opponent uses up. If you know you have more reps than he does then you have an advantage.

on the topic of mining the entrance, it is important not to lay mines while your team is trying to get in, in case you did not already know what. only lay them if you know they will not be repped at the wall when your team comes (sometimes a well placed mine can fool the enemy).

yea that rep counting is good...most of the time though ill just let the other shark repel my mines onto me it ... i might be outta energy but i can still drop a mine in front of him. its still pretty risky 50/50 going head to head when all u have is mines and no bombs. would bomb shrappnel and repelled mines (both mine)kill me? if not i might have an advantage by launching a bomb into the wall and let the repelled mines do the rest of the job.

Or you could just not mine, that way you won't lose energy when he repels your mines. Then you wait for him to approach you, and then you lay a mine in his path.

A good tip, jav's shrapnel doesn't kill a person with one hit unless the person has low energy.

But a shark's shrap will kill anything it hits.
Also, people who have just entered the zone are probably not going to see your mines on their screen, so they'll run right through them like nothing happened, don't get mad when that happens...it's just packetloss.

I would rather use a mine than a bomb against another shark, even if I had the energy for either. If you launch a bomb at him, it will likely get repped, and you along with it with your energy drained. If you and the repped bomb hit a wall you'll be low on energy for quite a bit. If you just laid a mine you'll have enough energy left to lay another or to thrust out of the way, whether he reps or not.

And as for the famous "just entered, can't see any mines" trick, I've always wondered what would happen if you tried to lay a fresh one in that ship's path, putting a "fifth" one that will register on his comp but not on yours. Lag mines (where one of a team's two sharks winds up with more than 4) works along similar principles, so it might work.

i've thought about it too, and tried it...they don't register, i guess something on the computer's side stops you from sending that packet to the server

I'm almost certain it won't work. You don't send a "I hit my mine key" packet, and even if you did, it wouldn't be forwarded to every player in the arena. I beleive you only lay mines if your computer okays it.
