  • Warbird skillz...

I haven't really seen anything on how to do well with a warbird so I thought I might start a thread on "how to do well with a warbird"

What are your strategies on doing well in elim, dds, dueling, or whatever? Are there any "secrets" in doing as well as the vets from the finals/ sieges/ elusives of the past? Is it a matter of skills? confidence? both?....bascially, how does some 2 year newb, like me, turn into 1 lean fighting machine? Any input would be helpful

i find arrogance the key to victory. just rush and pressure the shit out of your enemy and you have it. pretty much nobody ever really fights back

personally, the more i focus the more i do crap. i like it a lot better to just let it flow, not pay much attention and things tend to go a lot better. some music on is always good for this.

Okay, Archangell <ZH>'s/Dameon Archangell's Little Warbird Guide

Basically you have 3 stages to the duel.

            1. Agressive Offensive
            2. Guarded Defensive
            3. Passive Neutral

            Agressive Offensive
This is used, mainly, in one on one dueling and when in a team game, when you are on the better side of a 2,3,or 4 v 1. When taking the agressive stance you wait for the opposing player to shoot at you, and while he is recharging you use your thrusters (default shift) to rush him to a close, point blank distance for an easy kill.

            Guarded Defensive
This style of is used in one on one duels and when you are on the bad side of a 2,3,or 4 v 1 fight. This is where you fly backwards using your thrusters (default shift) to keep a good distance while moving perpendicularly back and forth dodging bullets and trying to shoot off a few of your own. In a one on one duel it is much easier to counter attack then when facing multiple opponents.

            Passive Neutral
I, personally, have only been able to use this in a pub, or a 4v4/5v5 squad duel situation. This is basically where you are at before you chase and engage an opponent(s). Here you non-chalantly shoot out a few bullets, dodge a few, nothing major. Its kind of the down point between the aggressive and guarded stances.

These are the three things that I've noticed when dueling and have helped me get far in my matches. I hope this helps others out as well.

Ok, heres my take on being a "good", notice the quotes, warbird.

              1. Learn how to take long radar shots
              2. Run away when enemy has energy
              3. Rush when enemy has no energy
              4. Quick shots that the enemy cant dodge

And heres my take on how I warbird. Which I think is more honourable, but doesnt usually work effectively.

              1. Watch which way the enemy is pointing, and estimate how much energy they have, so you can dodge his shots.
              2. Dont be afraid to get in close, makes for a nice dog fight.
              3. Try not to just run away, try to dodge the shots and then take him out while he tries to run off after he misses.
              4. Quick shots that the enemy cant dodge

But dont listen to me, I usually go like 2-10 in elim. But I can put up a fair fight 1on1 with most people (although I never win duels because people are cheapass runners)

Most of the time I find that people are just so scared of dying that they stay at a far distance and never have the balls to get right in and dodge some shots. The way I see it is it takes more skill to get right up there and do some jukin' and jivin' then it does to sit from way back and take radar shots.

There are really only two things to warbirding. Positioning/dodging and aiming. Aimign comes with time, just play lots and it gets better. The onyl real way to practice radar is in wbduel elim so on. But if you want to practice screen try shooting rocks in pub - i know that seems old and out of date, but thats how a lot of people got good way back in the day. As per dodging just always remember you don't need to move much, just the 2 pixels it takes to get you out of the way.

Blood has a good point. Annoy the shit out of your opponent and he'll take it personal and want to kill you. This, of course, leaves his defence on the -game- wide open, letting you taunt him with things such as 'OMFG EZ' or 'try harder plz? yawn'

                  You get the idea.

Or, you could go with Dameon's long ass post way, which I havent bothered to read because Blood is God. Thanks.

Antipate the opponents movement, try to avoid taking silly shots. And don't move around too much. Make them earn their kill, instead of catching. I've learned that, the hard way. ; )
RaCka> how can i get you here

A good division warbird does not have to get a good rec constantly, he can save his friend from certain death too and be of help.

Or then I'm just saying that cus I can't kill in that damn ship
