This really needs to be brought to attention. This is a fucking game guys, not some highly secured secret login.. jesus christ

Today I forgot I changed the password on a name I recently got "coder". Yea so, no big deal right? Well I tried my main three passwords, and all the sudden I get this popup when I tried to enter on code.. after I had given up.

Normally I wouldn't give a shit if I had to wait like 10-20 even 30 minutes to login again, because I know it can slow down the server a tad. But listen, if someone forgets their password and tries a couple different passwords they shouldn't be LOCKED OUT for TWO HOURS (yes I timed the fucking shit). This needs to be looked at by upper staff and changed.

EDIT: Atleast make it so the password you just changed it to will be automatically put in the place of the old password.

If you agree that this should be looked at and changed to something a little more suitable, reply with "Change that shit!".

No, It will only lock out the person trying to get onto your name kiDDos. I think this is a billing server thing, so upper staff might not be involved with this.

what if its me trying to access?? i think the server pass try amount should be increased to 5 tries and have an auto time out feature after 4 tries to give a warning 5th try will lock account out. Is this locking done by ip? node? gateway? can i release ip and try again? gah grr gez gey

Probably by IP and MAC addresses. You can renew your IP if you're ISP is using DHCP, which will assign you a new IP. But it will probably still lock you out because of the Mac address.

I agree that the 2 hours is a bit excessive, but it's not unreasonable to think that someone could login to an account that they have legit in about 3-4 tries...

Eh, I'm not too sure that you can clone someone's MAC address... it's burned onto the NIC card...

Yes the MAC or level 3 address is burned onto the network card. A friend of mine told me you can change it, but it takes a lot of work to do it, basicly it isn't worth the time to try.

heh its easy to clone a mac, because the network is not reading the mac from the nic, its reading from the router, usually cloning is done for the isp side so they can't really tell that u have a router, it just appears to them that you have your one nic connected to the modem.

i know all this because, i'm 1337, plus i worked for isp's
