I've been using the default since 1997 (I still use // to type team messages instead of '). Doubtful that I'll change anything drastic.

Yeah it's almost the worst possible set up for javing. BUt I usually spider, shark, or terr...so it works really well for those ships.

And yes it was a nightmare to re-learn keys after getting used to a key pref set. That's when I jsut play pub to re-learn them and make all the mistakes there of mining when trying to repel, and warping when trying to lay a portal...ect ect. ect.

But I will say that the default keys suck for terr and shark. It's bad to have to use two buttons for one function. IF you miss hit and only press one key you are screwed...

My keys are pretty much defaults, the only difference being mine and rep. My rep is Shift Caps and my mine is Shift Alt. The reason I did these is because when I used to play EG, whenever I shot whilst thrusting I would waste a rep or lay a mine by accident.

To all the people who use letters for their keys, how do you type? Do you just have to type like normal and accept that you may waste a special or something?

All i have changed is multifire and burst. just switch em around, turn off numlock, and use ur pinky on the num-keys with alt labels. its the eziest settings. period.

all i change was the warping and laying portals to 'z' for warp and 'shift z' for laying the port

I wouldn't dare use any keys that are useful in chat as a key pref unless it was shift + <some key>.

There is a reason for this.
