How soon a name is reset depends on usage. The more usage the name has, the longer time it takes it to be reset. Names with lots of usage are never reset. Exact times are not public. Squads are deleted when squad owner name is deleted. -PriitK

The *unkown* squad reset was about dec of last year.

When a name is reset that has squads on it, those squad get transfered over to *unknown*. This is useful because if it was your name that got reset you can get those squads back if Platinum-Halo is feeling nice and you know the pw (he did this about a year and a half ago when i lost 4 squads because a name of mine reset)

The squads go to *unknown* because the central player database transfers them there although i'm not quite sure of the point. A name on *unknown* will never reset unless the name *unkown* is reset in which case they all get reset. As far as i can remember *unknown* has only been reset once.

if you ever see a squadowner of a person with *'s around the name but it's a real name it's because that name was force-reset.

an example of this is blackfyre which also exsists as *blackfyre* because someone reset it when it owned squads (i.e. it didn't reset to do lack of use) so rather than go to *unknown* the squads went to *blackfyre*.
