  • Having choppiness problems? This might help you out.

Note that this only works with XP. I don't know if 2k or NT use the same task manager, so I can't say if it works there.

If you're having problems with choppy graphics or skipping frames, I may have a solution for you. While Continuum is running, bring up the task manager and look for "continuum.exe" in the processes list. Right-click on it and go to "set priority". Pick "above normal" (or whatever) and close the task manager. You should notice an improvement in the client's performance.
DO NOT set it to realtime if you have below 512megs of ram, or XP itself will run like shit.

This is only really useful on low end (<1ghz) machines so if you're on a monster of a system this isn't needed. A few people don't know about this so I figured I would pass the word on.

Get a better video card, you will have 0 "choppieness", and i wouldn't mess with the process priority, it can make your computer unstable.

Edit: I believe you can set process priority on any windows machine but you have to use an API call.

I don't have a choppy-ness problem, but I have a very annoying problem which happens like maybe 1-2 times / hour.

Ok, I play the game as normal and all of sudden I hear the hard-drive access, I believe this occurs when a TW system announcement occurs to load up some SOUND sample. Not entirely sure, or perhaps my operating system is doing a scheduled system task.

Or, I went into Advanced Options, and clicked on most used graphic elements to load them in memory thinking this tweak would make the game more efficient. I have 256 megs of ram, so I'm not sure if I have a Virtual memory overuse problem. Perhaps Virtual Memory does a maintnance schedule every so often.

Basically, I get a 2-3 second freeze and then all of sudden back in the game.

This is extremely annoying if your in elim/wbduel/twdd, since you might be in the middle of dealing with a foe.

Just wondered if there is a solution or anyone else has this problem.

I asked this before, but no one offered any suggestions on here.
