where the fuck is wadi when you need him?

      - Actually I think that BitTorrent is automatically set so you upload more than you download to keep the seed going... hmm i dunno..

That's most likely true considering when I checked my Internet traffic while using BitTorrent, the outgoing channel was uploading at around 100 kbps versus my download speed of 50 kbps.

Not exactly true, download always goes as fast as possible given the current circumstances. I'm not sure entirely of the algorithm, but yes it is possible to upload at 50 kbps and download at 10 mbps... and yeah i do this routinely. There's no set ratio.

OKay guys, seriously. The Rules say no warez/file trading. I don't mind you all talking about BitToerrent (I've used it on occasion myself for several legitimate downloads), or how to maximize it, or which client you like best. BUT! Please please please DO NOT discuss trackers thats are notorious for:

A.) carrying pirated games and movies.
B.) (If you live in the US) Getting you a lovely Cease and Desist from Game Developers, or the MPAA via your ISP. I've known people at school who've gotten these, and they're all off that particular tracker.

As far as I'm concerned, this is like hitting a puppy on the nose with a newspaper. It might hurt a bit, but it's for your own good.

Um... just a nitpick, but the "tracker" you are talking about isn't exactly a tracker. It's just a site that links to torrents that are run on other trackers. But yeah, a few of the movies and shows on there ARE actually fakes put on to catch people.

And about upload/download speeds: if you get a bittorrent client that lets you limit upload, you can limit it. Although, if you upload to people, you are much more likely to get them to upload back to you. It's just the way the client works.
