Heh, im back again . I have a question involving my FPS....Its usually at 60-61. Occasionally it will just drop to 50...yesterday it hit 24....and today it hit 13...what causes those drops? It only started a month ago...

BTW, anything over 60 fps is pointless. I think with avoid pageflipping clicked you get astronomical fps; which is also a waste of cpu resources.

In fact, 24fps is the minimum..anything above is a-ok.

If your FPS is flipping back and forth between 24 and 60 it definately is not ok. It's going to be so jerky that it's impossible to play. I also believe that the huge FPS reading the game gives isn't real. Even if it was, the game takes up next to nothing when it comes to CPU resources, so it isn't a big deal.

If you have a PC that was made in the last 5 years, you should be able to pull off a perfectly running Continuum.

Well, stab's post worked...perfectly....for the first 4 hours afterwards...(im not sure on exact time, but you get the point) and then....it just started be a LITTLe jerky at all times...which is better than so jerky you cant even see your dead untill 5 secs after BOOM...and belim is the worst at it...and only javs...shark elim...nothing(well..less people too)

Good point Taciturn Bob, yeah 24fps is pushing it... no kidding. Yeah, for movies ok, but video games no way.

60fps is sufficient and all you really need.

Its like 16-bit audio is good enough for most people, 24bit audio is nutz and often unnecessary. In fact I use only 8-bit for graphics/audio for this game, just to help mr.computer out a bit.

yeah 60fps is fine for anything but usually if you have a card that can only reach 60fps it will drop rapidly on games.

My video card can do well over 60....just drops once in awhile...for like 5-8 seconds...(which can do a lot of damage)

Problems develop when the frames aren't equally spaced. Lets say you have 59 frames in .01 second, then subsequently 1 frame in .99 seconds - it'll still look like 1 fps to you.

This is why someone can seem to have a high FPS rate but still have the herky-jerkies. It's also why 30 fps is fine on older computers with old video cards but it's not on newer ones.

Okay, so we have this computer that my Dad recently brought home from his work that he said I could use. I usually can only play at my Mom's because we don't have a computer at my Dad's; so I was excited when he got it. It's also relatively new:

                            Dell GX240, Pentium 4 @ 1.6 GHZ
                            256 MB RAM
32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra Graphics card

Now, I can't seem to get a steady FPS with it. I've tried everything said already but I can't get it to work. Help?
