  • LCD Screen

I'm having an LCD screen 19" and when I go to play Continuum, it is nearly impossible to see the bullets. LCD screen (with 75 refresh rate) does not like black and gray colored thing next to each other.

Do not tell me to buy a new screen, or that the reason is low refresh rate. I know that, byt I also know a couple of Continuum players who are playing with same LCD screen than I, but they have a different graphics card. I got ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, with the latest drivers.

If any of you have a some kind of tip how I could solve this problem, because it would be fun to play again. I had to post this here, because the real Continuum Tech Support forum has been down for while.

    Thank you.

You didn't quite make your post clear enough, but...

If the bullets were a different color and/or bigger, would it help? It's easy to change the bullets.

That's not the only problem. Then I fly I don't catch who's enemy and who's own. So the problem is everytime when black colored thing is next to each other with some other darky color.

Hope this makes clearer what I wanted to say...

The newest LCD screens designed for gaming actually are far better than CRTs for gaming. However, older LCD screens could be the problem. Don't forget two screens made by the same company that are the same model may have different LCD elements by different manufacturers. Despite looking the same, your screens may indeed be different.

Just as point of note - I have two Radeon 9700 Pro's at my place. One is in my machine, one is in my gf's. Hers is attached to a 20" LCD, mine is attached to twin 21" CRTs. They both work fine.

LCDs generally arent great for games like SS, as they have problems displaying true black, its more of a dark dark gray, thus making it harder to identify objects as bullets.

ghosting is common too. Generally if you are going for an LCD screen, dont buy the cheaper one, it may look decent (benq for example), but it wont have the same refresh rate as one that costs more.

There is basically no solution to your problem, as it lies with the monitor itself, either get a "better" LCD screen, or a CRT for SS.

quite frankly, acid, youre fucked unless you want to fork out on buying a better monitor.
