Any TFT with a response time < 20 ms is acceptable in a gaming enviroment.
The 17" Samsung SyncMaster 172X and the 17" BenQ FP767-12 both have a 12 ms respone time and they both look good. Personally I prefer the Samsung design, and if I was going to buy a new monitor, that would be my first choice....
Unless I had a shitload of money to spend, in which case I would definately go for the Viewsonic VP201B
