Should I get a new webrowser?

I've used Internet Explorer my whole life. Completely ignoring all the other browsers and people raving about them, but recently there has been several security issues with IE, and I'm considering using another browser.

Which one should I get and why is it better than IE?

I've been fine with IE all my computer life. Never had any major probs, minor probs all seem to be sorted by clearing temp internet files. As long as you make sure you do windows update every month or so I don't see a problem.

Firefox has a good built-in pop-up blocker, and the tab-browsing is an excellent innovation. Basically, if you want to look at multiple pages at once, it loads each page on a separate "tab" in the same window instead of opening a new window for each one. It's great for forum browsing.

I've stopped using IE as I don't trust it. I use Avant Browser instead. V. good.

I agree, Firefox is wonderful. Once you experience tabbed browsing, the words 'Internet Explorer' will taste like pig vomit coming out of your mouth. Having said that, theres also this other rad feature with a small entry field in the top right corner where you can search for things without going to the homepage. They have plug-ins for a lot of webpages that do this, currently I have it setup for google, dictionary.com, ebay, and imdb.

I liked IE myself, I didnt see anything wrong with it.

But then suddenly it stopped working as it should, along with MSN for some reason.

I have a whole bunch of browsers for website testing, I reccommend Firefox.

Troll King neglected to inform about the great download feature on Firefox. You can pause your downloads, and they are all managed in one small window. When downloading multiple files it will display an overall percentage completed across the files.

You can also download cool skins for Firefox.

Definitely worthwhile replacing your old IE with it.

When I get a new browser, do I still need to keep IE or can I uninstall it? Aren't all these browsers extentions of IE?

No they are standalone programs. Removing IE completly is more like a weekend project anyways, just leave it and dont use it.

yeah i use fireworks too, and got IE as backhand, so i can use that if needed

I would say, go for firefox, or mozilla, is almost the same

IE is shit so ez to hack in, so many errors. they fix one error, they create an other. IE got the bigest securty problems of all the browsers.

i use Netscape and i'm happy with it. and it got a popup killer to (if u know how to use it )
